Week 2, run 2

Any tips? I need to lose at least 5stone... I weigh just over 17 stone (had a baby 20 weeks ago) and really enjoyed the first week... did run 1 of week 2 on Friday and it was awful. Due to do run 2 tonight but those extra 30 seconds running killed me off on Friday. Really dreading today’s run, although I’m determined to do it. I’m full of a cold too which I don’t think is going to help. I’d be grateful of any tips. Thanks

Congratulations on the birth of your little one. From personal experience, I would recommend joining one of the well-known weightloss groups, you will get tons of support, lots of help with healthy eating, and almost certainly make some new friends. If you are breastfeeding, that is taken into account, so not a problem. If that is not an option, then a healthy balanced diet (plenty available online, try my fitness pal) coupled with a daily exercise routine of cardio and strength exercises should help you. Its about eating better ( not necessarily less), moving more. BUT 9 weeks isn't long and babies are hard work so cut yourself some slack too because too much pressure won't help. In terms of running, especially as a beginner don't run if you don't feel 100%, let your body get over your cold and then give it another go.

As for weight loss groups, I’m a yo yo slimming worlder 😂 always joining, losing a stone then get lazy. This time I’m doing it online as with 3 children I just don’t get the chance to go and take in all the info in the class. I’m finding doing it from home much easier and I’ve stopped weighing myself too. I’ve also joined a boot camp that’s 2 nights a week and they weigh me there at the beginning and end so I’m just going by that for now. I’ve changed my attitude to my weight loss/fitness journey so for now it’s about feeling better in myself and my clothes, not about what the scales say. Hoping this new approach will work for me as I do feel so much better for doing exercise. And I’m determined to run the 5k, just trying to take it a day at a time but tonight’s run night and I’m dreading it already 😩

Great to hear you're getting some support and boot camp sounds ' fun'. Yes, it definitely about feeling better in yourself, not the numbers. Good luck with the running and general wellbeing.

congratulations :)

I’ve just started on C25k, about to do week 1 run 3

This time last year I’d just joined Slimming World 3 days ago, I was 18st5lb

3 months ago I got my target certificate at a loss of 6 stone

The first 4 stone was done solely through eating, since then I’ve been walking up to 150miles a month

I’m now taking the next step to speeding up to a run, but it can be done

Best of luck! 👍

That’s what I’ve been doing, slimming world but with a new baby and 2 other children too, I just don’t get the time to do everything. Trying to put exercise first for a change and do slimming world at home (online) as I know what to do, I’ve just got to plan!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Don't ever dread any run. Negativity is not allowed on this forum. You are doing this voluntarily, so why should you dread a workout that is taking you nearer to the aims of the programme.

Relax and enjoy your journey.

Hi and welcome.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby. And on starting the programme as running brings with it a host of benefits. If your cold has symptoms below your neck then stop running until they have gone, otherwise carry on but don’t pressure yourself. Good luck

Ive just moved up to week 3 today, it feels great. I’m 15st6lb due to a long term illness where I was pretty much immobile and started this programme to lose weight and get fitter after my recovery. I haven’t lost any weight yet but what I can tell you is how I feel, that first run was hell, but it only got better from there, in week 3 I’m running longer than I ever imagined but more importantly I feel empowered, less stressed, fitter and proud that I’m taking control and staying engaged, that positive mindset is driving all sorts of great changes in my day to day life. Yes I’ve repeated a few runs as I’m taking each stage at my own pace. It’s said many times on here to slow down and it really is the best advice. I’m going to focus on my diet to lose weight but I’ll not be stopping running, I love it now. Good luck on your weight loss journey, make small changes for the long term and don’t beat yourself up, it takes time, your body has gone through huge changes, give yourself some love, you’ve just had a baby, that’s some hard work right there already, Congratulations 👶🏻🏃🏼‍♀️💪🏼👍🏻

Well done for joining C25K that’s a great start! And congrats on your new baby!! I’m quite new to running I’ve just completed week 3 about to do w4r1 today! My best advice is if you’re not feeling 100% then run one of the week one’s again until you feel you can try week 2 again. There’s no time limit on this programme which is one of the reasons I picked it. Go at your own pace and if you need to repeat a week then do it :-) good luck and enjoy yourself!
