Newbie here - I didn't even know that I could get cramp and pins & needles along the top of my foot during week 1, run 3

Hi guys,

Hoping someone can advise. I completed my week 1, run 3 yesterday and during the first two runs out of the seven, I had sudden cramp and pins and needles along the top of my right foot. I shook my foot out during the recovery walk which relieved the cramp greatly and then managed to carry on. I completed week 1, run 3 and am ready to move onto week 2, run 1 tomorrow but I wanted to ask if anyone else has had this kind of issue? Today my right feet feels tender along the top of it, everything else feels fine. I didn't even know it was possible to get cramp along the top of the foot??!

Thanks

J

I used to find my toes went numb or pins and needles like. I got my running style tested at running shop to get different shoes and that’s solved the problem my others were to narrow

Thank you, I just have normal trainers, not running shoes so I'll look into that. Thanks!

Might be that your shoes are laced too tight and your feet swell when you are running. Try loosening or google trainer lacing to see the myriad possibilities for alternative lacing patterns

Thanks, I might invest in proper running shoes, I just have trainers.

Is it possible you laces were too tight some times you can do it without realising 😊

Thank you, I think you might be right. I'm going out again tomorrow so will try and tie my laces a bit loose.

As above, upper foot issues are normally shoe or lace related.

Great job completing that run and enjoy tomorrow’s.

Thank you. Yep, I hadn't considered shoe laces or my trainers might be a problem. I'm going to look into getting some proper running shoes.
