Well, it’s been quite a week. My younger boy’s residential special school suddenly decided they couldn’t cope with him any more and packed him off home. He’s quite severely autistic and has been there for almost 3 years, so you can probably imagine that this has been a lively few days with a lot of eggshell-treading and not a lot of sleep. Happily both the Black Dog and the Panic Moth are beginning to back off and I did manage 3 runs, but today there was nothing in my legs at all. I did put Uncle Sanjeev on once I got to the park, but I put him off again after the first minute of running and went for a walk to the Stone Circle instead. Lots of uphill for that, so hopefully I’ll come back rested and stronger on Thursday. Happy running, anyone else out today x
The run that wasn’t . . .: Well, it’s been quite... - Couch to 5K
The run that wasn’t . . .
Ooh, the archaeologist in me is scouring your photo for details. Looks like a small henge as well as the standing stones 😊
That’s not good news about your son being sent home. I imagine the disruption to his routine has been really difficult for him. I hope things start to settle down soon n that you can find a suitable alternative (if you’re looking for one that is)
That’s great news that the dog and moth are backing off at last. Hope it’s a sign of better days to come. Happy running (when you can) 🏃♀️😊
Thanks Jill. Hadn’t realised you have archaeological tendencies: I’ll get a picture of the “altar stone” some day soon in case that gives you some more clues 😄
I did archaeology at university and worked as an archaeologist for almost 5 years till I had my daughter. I miss it loads but I wanted to be around for her rather than being at work so I changed direction.
I have a book of all the stone circles in the UK so if you can tell me where it is/what it’s called (if anything) I can look it up 😊
You got out.
You breathed some fresh air.
You got some exercise.
Well done you.
Goodness that must be super stressful for you all, hope things getter better for you soon. Getting out in the fresh air is a great positive step, well done!
Very jealous of the blue sky in your photo and very glad you have so far continued to get outside when you can.
Very sad the school placement has broken down and this will mean a massive adjustment for you all. Try not to loose yourself and your running in the complications otherwise called family life.
Warm hugs from a cold and wet Bodg x
A walk is just as good, well done for getting out
With so much going on you’ve done really well to manage 3 runs... I’m sure the rest will do you good, and you’ve proven more than most that you’re not willing to quit. Hope everything improves and you get a good run on Thursday.
Thanks UNM. I have some furniture moving planned today, so I should have great muscles by Thursday 😂
I spent a day rearranging the furniture once, with Mrs UNM wanting a change... eventually I worked out how she liked it... and everything was back where we started 😂. Good workout though.
You and me both Twin 😉
You’re doing amazing just holding everything together! Take care of yourself x
Lovely photo of the Aberdeenshire countryside BCK, you do live in a lovely part of Scotland, sorry about your son having to leave that residential special school which he has attended for 3 years.
Glad to hear that the black dog and the moth are beginning to back off when you ran those 3 runs, well done for getting those runs completed, that at least got you out into the fresh air. Good luck for your run on Thursday, just as well, storm Gareth is going to make it very windy at times in many areas later today and on Wednesday morning.
It’s been windy here for the last week or so, but worst at night, thankfully. It is a lovely place to be - I’ve never understood why we get so few tourists ! Hope you’re feeling fine and keeping busy yourself x
You've done great to get outside in the fresh air, it's one of the things that stopped me from screaming when my younger son was small (he has asd & adhd) Whether it's running or walking you need the air to help your health, mental and physical. I hope that things settle down soon with your son and you can find either new accommodation or he settles into a new routine for you.
Oh BCK... if there’s one constant in life, it’s its ability to throw curve balls. I hope you find a way through this situation that works for you... and that you took some strength from those there stones. X
Oh bless him. Hope he’s managing the transition back home ok especially as it came so quickly. Unsettling time for him and all of you. But you will find the way forward BCK cos that’s what you do. Take care and a good walk and headspace sounds perfect. Xxx
Oh my goodness what a tough week for you all. Life’s never straightforward, is it?! I really hope your son settles soon and you sort out the support and education that’s right for him. Well done for getting out into the fresh air: you live in such a beautiful place that alone must revitalise you. Look after you x
