New to all this. 67 years old and started running - must be mad. Currently on w5 and no problems (yet). In fact I look forward to each run - though they're not always easy. I assume there are dozens (hundreds?) of sixty somethings running around out there.

Well done notreallyme- you’re definitely not mad! Methinks you’ll be inundated with replies from sixty somethings (and older!)

I only started last April at 62 and have loved every moment. Graduated in May with no problems and am now working my way up to 10K. Running is part of my life now and my only regret is that I didn’t discover it earlier!!

Keep up the good work and reap all the benefits!!

Congratulations notreallyme, you are not mad, so glad that you are enjoying your running, on week 5, well you will be looking forward to run 3, take it slowly. There are many 60 year olds who have began C25K, indeed like me who was 71 when I began week 1 and graduated 3 weeks after my 72nd birthday. 😊

Hi Tbae, there is a man in his 90's who regularly runs in the Keswick Parkrun, according to Theoldfellow who also runs that as well on a Saturday morning, this 90+ year old man is a marshall if he's not running.

Not run since 23/01/19.As a novice Alan definitely overuse and unfettered enthusiasm.

Got to listen to the sound guidance.

Hopefully I get back and tick off a few more things for my 76th.

No regrets Alan, the best thing I have ever done is the C25k programme and find HealthUnlocked.

I do agree with your last sentence, so you are going to restart C25K, well done. As I have said before I go long walks during the winter months but recently in the milder weather in February I did do a bit of running, last week on the Monday I went to Stirling, now that is the place, the Forth Walkway that I ran run 3 of week 8, that would be early June last year, this time now with my app I ran/walked week 2 of C25K just to give my legs a bit of running, it went OK. If the weather is nice I will do a bit of running when I'm out walking and on my runiversary redo some of the the runs probably starting with week 3

I'm actually looking forward to w5r3 - probably on Saturday, all being well. After 5 and 8 minute stints it looks daunting, but also very enticing! How strange.

I am the same age started c25k when I turned 60 having never run in my life ! The programme really works as I’m sure others will confirm.

Laura is my inspiration and her words β€˜it’s just a light jog’ kept me going pace develops with time, it really does.

The surprising thing is I became completely addicted to running it’s a personal achievement, do this for you and best of luck πŸ€—

I am 71 and also on week 5 run 1. I finished all of it last summer but did not keep running so I have started again. The hardest part is getting out of the door. I used to drive to a nice flat part to do my runs but now I just run locally which does have slopes. I do feel better for it and it's good to be able to run ( albeit very slowly) up a slope I used to walk up. Next run is the big one with 8 mins running. I have signed up for a 10k in September so I have to finish the course and then do the next 5-10k one.

Very impressed!! I agree about getting out of the door - especially when it's cold and breezy. But once going it's very rewarding. I'm keeping to the flat(ish) until I've gained a bit more stamina - one thing at a time. Just done w6r3, so no more walking. Let me know how you get on - I'm not committing to anything other than completing the c25k for the time being. Good luck.
