Week 7 was upon us and I could hear the rain beating down as soon as I opened my eyes. "Do we really want to do this?". I know if I make an excuse to put off or miss a run once, I will do it again, and then who knows.
Up, dressed in our running gear and opened the front door, the dogs looked at us as if to say "If you think we are going out in that then you have another think coming".
It is one think going running and getting caught in the rain, its much harder to leave when it is bucketing it down but we did. We were soaked through before we reached the front gate. Rather than risk ruining our phones, we left them behind and my boyfriend set a timer on his watch for 5 minutes. With the rain coming down that hard, there is a strong urge to just run as walking just seemed daft. finally we finished and with the 28 minute time set, off we went. We may as well have been running in a river, the water on the footpath was at least half way up my trainers. I don't think I have ever intentionally gone out in weather like this before.
I don't think I really thought about the run, I just wanted it to be over. When we reached the point where we finished on Friday, I though that we must just have the three minutes to go and I saw my boyfriend look at his watch. That last three minutes seemed to take forever. I later found the reason, we had obviously run a bit faster today and reached the point with over 4 minutes to go. My boyfriend had not said anything at the time.
The good news is that we did it, 28 minutes non stop!! Typically, as we started the final walk home, the rain stopped.
There was no way I was walking the dogs this wet, so we had to change before taking them out. When we go out, you could see by the glances the dogs gave each other that they though, "Why on on earth did out humans go out in that rain, they should have waited."
It did start to rain again just as we were getting home, but that's it until tonight, I am staying in the warm and dry, (although my poor boyfriend has had to go into the office today ).

You deserve to be very proud of yourself on going out in that heavy rain ☔ for that 28 minute run, by the way week 7 is 25 minutes, week 8, 28 minutes, yes the dogs must think we humans are mad to go outside in that weather, not long now until you graduate. ✔️
OMG! I looked at the plan last week to see what we were in for and must have looked at the wrong week! If it hadn't been raining we would have used the app on the phones and run the correct time. That rain has a lot to answer for!!
At least I know I can do it. Hopefully on Wednesday's run we can use the app and do the correct time, the only issue is its going to be a day out.
Thanks for pointing that out. I cant believe I looked at the wrong week, what a plonker!!
It is much harder to go out when it’s raining, particularly when it’s hard as opposed to going out and it starts raining while you are out. Well done on your run! Hope you have warmed up and dried off now you are home. 😃
Yes, all dry and warm now. As AlMorr as pointed out, I ran for three minutes longer than I should have due to reading the wrong weeks plan. At least that meant we got home a bit quicker!!
Heroic 👍😁 Living in Scotland I've done many runs where it's started to rain while im out and I've somewhat enjoyed the buzz. Never intentionally gone out in a downpour! Well impressed. I've downloaded NRC Rainy Run guided run to give me a bit of distraction because I've wanted to give running whole run in a soaker a go for a while now. Steve Cram said in C25K that there is more oxygen in the rain - want to try out that fact as any help on the oxygen front most welcome.🏃♀️👍🌧🌈🌧 Happy running.
I don't know about more oxygen when its raining, but on Monday I was almost in fear of drowning!!
I will have to look into options for keeping my phone dry while running. The cheap arm band I bought is OK when its dry, but my phone is not waterproof so it does not get used in the rain.
As it is a single non-stop run from now on, we just set the timer on my boyfriends watch. All my involvement was in telling him what time to set. I manage to look at the wrong week so we ran for 28 mins instead of 25. We did manage it, and we must have run faster than we did when we did the previous 25 min run as we passed that point with over 4 mins to go (not that I knew that at the time). Maybe there was more oxygen and it gave us a boost!!
