W6R1 wet cold windy are we downhearted??? Neh itโs Scotland may as well be summer ๐๐. Definitely clears the cockles so they say ๐
Must be mad!!: W6R1 wet cold windy are we... - Couch to 5K
Must be mad!!
As long as you warm the cockles later Huge well done you!
Och aye - itโll fairly have blawn the cobwebs away ! Juist as lang as ye didnae come hame sirpan an founert wi the watter cholderin in yer buits. Mind an wear yer woolly semmit fan ye ging the next time ! (Translation available on request) ๐
Beautifully put BK, and good advice too!
I just knew youโd understand ๐
I've got family near Aberdeen, and I read a lot of Christopher Brookmyre, so it mostly made sense!
A friend introduced me to Brookmyreโs books just this year. Still not sure if Iโm amused or appalled by them ! ๐
ButtercupKid, I live in Central Scotland but I don't know "Doric" which is spoken in North East Scotland. ๐ where you come from, lol I found that amusing, some words I did understood in your reply to Gordon173.
"Yes the wind will have blown the cobwebs away, just as long as you did not come home with water chilling your backside, remember to wear a warm wolly jumper the next time you go outside in the cold"
Correct me if I got any of that 'doric' translation wrong.
We just make up our own words up here ๐. Simmit depending on how you read it is normal an undergarment I think like long johns ๐
Itโs gone a bit weird in the middle, AlMorr ! I said it was ok as long as he wasnโt soaking and frozen with the water squelching in his footwear ! Oh - and a semmit is a vest, not a jumper. Excellent first attempt though ๐
I admit I was wrong with some of my 'translation' thanks BCK for the correction, how about this
" Its a brauw brioche moonlicht nicht the nicht". or "hootsmon, theres a moose looos abooot the hoose" ๐ช
Back to ๐ running , I hope you are enjoying your week 2 of C25K, I am sure you will be able to run it in less than the 9 weeks it took for week 1, also, I hope you have sorted out the Christmas๐ Day situation with your family. ๐
Nivvir founert. A wee dram and allโs well ๐
Well done! I am a soft southerner and very wimpy about the cold... had to run in gloves this morning even here in balmy Devon. I salute you!

One of the best trips I ever took Scotland can put Ireland in the shade when it comes to scenery and people surprisingly often
Hmmm not sure. Was over in Belfast and Dublin last year and a trip up to port Stewart and portrush lovely places and beautiful beaches ๐. Never get fed up over there
Everywhere I've ever been ( except for Paris, no kidding) I have met with great people...beautiful scenery can be a bit trickier Scotland is a place I fervently hope I can revisit some day - it's definitely on my 'Top 5' list along with The PRC, Tierra Del Fuego and Calcutta (yes, now 'Kolkata' but I think its a case where not only the mane changed but the entire 'meaning' - glad the Cold War era is well over, but will certainly miss the 'This is India' non-diluted culture and street sights if/when I do get back)
Portrush is certainly on the map - revisited there just this last September for the first time since 1967! Couldn't really stop as we had a pressing engagement further South but the time we had there as short as it was brought back some of the best memories I possess
Thanks Irish-John on praising my home country of Scotland, but Ireland is a beautiful country as well, many years ago I was with my father and we took a cycling holiday from Larne to a place on the Antrim coast called Balleygally, on a clear day I could see Scotland.
There is a railway line in Scotland called "The West Highland Line", that railway has been nominated by one of those ' best railway in the world for scenic views" magazines several times, problem is that Scotrail the company running the line uses old 40 tear old trains that keep breaking down, they do say that the service will improve in years to come.
Aye! Thatโs the spirit... do you get a summer? If you do Iโm moving! Nothing can stop a determined runner... onwards!
We do. 12th August!! ๐๐ ๐
Ah... ours is June 15th ๐
PS Regarding the summer of 2018, Where I live in Central Scotland saw the highest daytime temperature ever for this area on the 28th June, at least 3 officially recognised Met Office thermometers registered a maximum daytime temperature of 91F/33C on that summer day in June.
Summer UNM????. How are you and MISS UNM, I hope you are both keeping well.
Well... sheโs jealous because I did 6.04 k and sheโs only done 6 ๐. Iโm pretty sure she had the 40m in reserve but tomorrow sheโs going 6.5! I have some 400m sprints to do if the snow doesnโt stick!
Summer will be back with us all too soon ๐
Trust youโre keeping well my friend.
I am keeping very well thank you UNM, I have been going long walks rather than running recently but during the walk I go for a short run just to make sure my legs are OK.
I knew it would happen between you and your daughter, may I call it "friendly competition".
Iโll keep up the pretence that she canโt beat me for a while ๐. It does me good to be pushed a little while educating her on how little itโs healthy to push in one go. I said to her earlier we can both probably do 10k tomorrow but in doing so we will be aching for days if not injured for weeks. Sheโs staring to get it.
Great to see you out there keeping fit, and the little runs are my go to test of the legs.
Looking brighter now, thanks - more than I can say for the weather here !
