I’m quite a small person and usually have the equivalent appetite... but I woke early this morning STARVING again!! I seem to be hungry/snacking more during the day (trying to be healthy about this though - Jaffa cakes contain fruit, right 😂?!), having my evening meal earlier and eating larger breakfasts too... my husband thinks it’s hilarious! I haven’t really considered ‘diet’ until now, but think I might need to start ramping the nutrition up a bit! Any tips? Thanks.
Anyone else permanently hungry on C25K?!!! - Couch to 5K
Anyone else permanently hungry on C25K?!!!
I too am eating more since starting to run, i feel my body needs the extra fuel. Jaffa cakes also feature highly in my diet! I am sure someone else can help 😂
Don’t think too much about it. You should not need to change your eating habits at all. You don’t burn off too many calories really, especially early on in the C25K plan. I’m now running off 450 Calories when I run a 30 minute 5K.
So if you eat more and the calorie intake is above 300 calories more than normal you could end up putting on weight. Have a couple of pieces of fruit and drink loads of water when you feel hungry.

Yes, me too!! Definitely not getting any thinner!!
As the guide to the plan states, if you have a good broadly balanced diet, then there is absolutely no need to eat any extra just because you are doing C25K.
If you are hungry, try drinking water, but don't be tempted by Jaffa cakes, they are junk.
I’m always hungry ! 😂 I try to drink lots of water (sometimes that will compensate for the hunger pangs) although Jaffa cakes sound far more appealing. Try nakd bars (not full of nasties) and fills a gap.
Are you getting enough protein? Most muscle building happens during sleep, so if there’s a marked difference in the morning, it could be that.
Ah that’s interesting - thank you.I don’t eat a lot of meat... so had been wondering re protein... and it’s funny, because I’ve been waking up and craving a boiled egg and soldiers! Will deffo be conscious about upping protein over the coming weeks (and longer runs!!) - really helpful. Thank you.
... and eggs are a good protein source... sometimes the body just asks for what it needs. My daughter gets rungry and 10g of chicken tends to stop it.
Sorry can’t help with this one, I’m a large person 6ft5 so the concept of small amounts of food is alien to me 😂! I have heard of Jaffa Cakes tho, but are they a cake or a biscuit 🤷♂️😂.
Totally, my husband thinks it's hysterical. I have breakfast with the kids at 7am but by 9.30-10ish I'm hungry and hoping it's dinner time 🤣 I always have a snack after a run, usually a banana or a yoghurt depending if the kids have been foraging the previous evening!
