First ever run!

I have just completed my first run ever since being at school!! And I’m now 46 yikes! It was better than I expected I wasn’t sure I’d even be able to do it at all. It’s so great reading everyone’s progress and how well they are doing. I really hope I can do it too!

You can! I was bright red and thought I’d die on my first run (close to my 53rd birthday!). C25k it’s absolutely amazing. Trust it, listen to your body. And if you’re anything like me - learn to run slowly. Your brisk walk can be faster than your run! It’s an amazing journey and a lovely supportive forum to help you on you way. Enjoy!

Thank you so much. To be honest it was more of a shuffle than a run! But I didn’t stop. I can’t imagine running for longer than 60 seconds right now but as you say you need to trust it.

You can do it! I started this close to my 55th birthday never having run before and am just about to go on run 2 of week 8. Like you I couldn't imagine running for more than 60 seconds at a time as I was shattered in week 1 but I listened to the trainer (Sarah Millican in my case) and don't run fast so that I can keep going until the end. I'm up to 28 minutes now!!! No way would I ever have thought that was possible.

Wow!! That’s absolutely brilliant well done! I just can’t see it right now but am determined to try my best! You’re quite an inspiration!!!!

Aw, bless you. That means such a lot. No-one's ever called me an inspiration before exercise-wise!!

Today is my 55th birthday and it's time for the last 28 minute run. I can't imagine doing 30 minutes on Thursday (that extra 2 minutes seem such a lot more to manage!) but have confidence that "this girl can" because the programme has enabled me to move on to every other week so far. I was told by a couple of friends who'd already done this not be afraid to repeat weeks if I had to and so I went into each new week thinking I'll just give this a go and if I can't manage it I'll repeat the previous week but so far I've found that I can do it! At the start I seriously thought I'd never be able to get this far but if I can then so can you MollynGus!!

Happy running xx

Happy birthday 🥳

That’s really fantastic and most definitely an inspiration! Last night I went out in the wind and the pitch black freezing cold and did week 1 run 2. I’m already worrying that I’ve only got 1 more then it’s running for 90 seconds. 28 minutes seems completely ridiculous right now but like you I’m trying to be quite relaxed and not worry if I need to repeat a week.

Have a wonderful birthday evening 🎂

Fantastic! How are you doing now? I'll bet you've managed those 90 second runs! Keep going and trust the programme 😀

PS apologies for late reply - too busy celebrating birthdays!

Well done! I’m 49 and haven’t run since school. No way did I think I would ever be running for more than a minute. I am now moving on to W8 having finished week 7 yesterday. Feel so much better mentally and physically 😀

That’s amazing!! So many inspirational people here.

Brilliant! I am now on week three, although actually taken a bit longer because I haven't managed to fit in three runs a week. But managing to progress anyway! I haven't run since the age of 12 and I am 59! I also love reading other people's posts. Good luck!

Wow well done. I can imagine repeating weeks but I don’t suppose it matters so long as you just keep on going
