Walked my current running route yesterday and the combination of high winds and high tide meant the sea was right up over the road, 4-6" deep in places! I struggled to walk in the way back at times with the strength of some of the gusts holding me stationary.
Today's weather was improved so I set out to do Week 8 run 1. The wind picked up and pushed me along the seaweed strewn road. The way back was tough going - not the running per se but the strong, cold headwind. I usually cover a similar distance before and after 'the turn' but not today! And I was very glad of my hat and gloves!
Given that my plantar fasciitis flared up a bit after my last run I'm really pleased to have done this one successfully today -after an extra rest day and with lots of extra stretching both before and after running. 😃

Well I’m at almost the same stage, after today’s rest day, so I hope that’s not an omen about the headwind! The lashing rain has just struck here - maybe it will all blow past in the night!
Well done for your success. It will spur me onwards. 👍😄
Currently staying on the Isle of Arran and loving my running route here (apart from when the sea has come right over the road!). It's flat, has the sea on one side and there's always wildlife to be seen en route: seals, herons, curlews, oystercatchers, redshanks, shelduck and many more.
Oh, that sounds so lovely. My ‘wildlife’ today was a group of young teenage boys smoking and 30 or so dogs. I had a couple of small yapping ones, dogs not youth, at my heels for some of the run. That was a fast km!
No, thankfully, very rare! Although when running near Bath (OMG, the HILLS!) I was accompanied by someone’s, jaunty neckerchief wearing, Jack Russell. I run around quite literally in circles, trying to find any one calling for him and gave up. He accompanied me for most of the 30 minutes, and then as we got back to where he’d joined me he just disappeared! I loved his company, and really missed him.
I wondered if he had been trained to spot any runners going by so that the owners didn’t have to walk him! 😂 🐶🏃🏻♀️
