Just downloaded the app to 5K & I’ve never looked forward to going to the gym before but I can’t wait to go on Monday! Never ran before, hoping to build myself up to the stand up to cancer run in October!! :) Any advise for me? :)

Congratulations on starting C25K, doing the program on a treadmill, perhaps once the warmer weather comes which could be as early as next week you could try some runs outside.

Lovely, thank you! I will defiantly start doing it outside when it’s not so cold out:)

Make sure you set the treadmill to a 1 incline so the transition to outdoor running is easier (I didn't do this!)

Welcome. October is a long way ahead, so you have plenty of time... you should be running 30 minutes in March or April and 5k soon after... make sure you can talk in full sentences while you are running... stay exactly to the plan and you’ll be just fine. Enjoy your journey.

Thank you very much for the positivity:)! That’s great advise because I’d never would’ve thought about talking whilst running:)!

It’s good to do... controls the breathing and checks the pace... if you can’t do it, slow down. Random passers by may think you’re nuts... so I try to do it when nobody is around, but as you pass dog walkers and the likes, bid them a good morning.

Welcome Katie, your gonna kick this no problem, it's a great program that absolutely works. My top tips 1. Keep it slow and steady all the way from wk1 to wk9 2. ALWAYS take your rest days howeverver great you feel. That's Mon negotiable. Rest days are vital for recovery, strengthening and avoiding injury. 3. Trust the program! It's worked for thousands of people. Every run and every week prepares you for the next!! Have fun running

Well done for starting! 3 bits of advice

1. go slow

2. when you need to - go slower

3. Follow the program.

The results are amazing. I’m old, fat and have a lot of metal in my leg but in six weeks I’ve gone from wondering how I’ll finish a one minute run to running lots and feeling good at the end

Good luck and enjoy the experience!!!

(And just had a thought if you are running on a gym treadmill don’t be intimidated by the person doing four minute miles next to you. Go as slow as you need to complete your run)

Slow and steady wins the race! Do the run, look around you and enjoy the surroundings. And keep saying to yourself "I love ru nong"! 🤣
