Pretty Muddy 5k challenge

Hi all! I'm a 46 yr old female who hasn't run before and started this programme about 4 weeks ago after signing up to the Pretty Muddy event and can't believe I'm at week 6 already! I haven't followed it to the plan and started on week 3 and have skipped some runs to move onto the next after feeling I could do more but when I first started I did think I would NEVER be able to run for the 20 mins straight at the end of week 5. Well I did do it a couple of days ago and can't quite believe it!! I was huffing and puffing, and thought my lungs were going to explode but just managed it! I'm now a little scared about the 30 minute run in a few weeks time so any advice would be most welcome. It's great this support is there and I'm sorry I haven't joined the forum before. Thanks in advance folks! 😊

Maybe don't skip any more? ...it is a gradual 9 week programme to build you up to being fitter...if your lungs felt like they were going to explode then perhaps you are not doing yourself any favours by skipping vital runs? I am no expert, just my opinion. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Thanks. I'm not skipping any more, I daren't! I just felt that I could run further when I first started so skipped the last run of each week. This was fine and has been going well. It's scary though thinking I am going to a 30 min run at some point! 😬

I actually found it easier than the 20, not sure why!?

It does look intimidating but trust the program! I was scared of the 5mins runs not so long ago and now I'm doing 30mins, it really does work!
