How to find a 5k route

Hi, I’m in week 7 and out-running my current route. To any tech savvy folk is there a free app/webpage that will allow me to map out routes locally to me and test distance ? Ps never posted before but this page has kept me motivated to get this far so thank you.

Google maps is easy for mapping routes from your home (or anywhere else)...

Enter your address to begin or alternatively zoom and drag the map using the controls on the left to pinpoint the start of your route. Draw your walking or running route by double clicking on the map to set the starting point. Then click once for each of the points along the route you wish to create.

You can even experiment by dragging the route to increase or decrease distance. I haven’t actually ran outside yet (done all my running on a treadmill) but plan to on Friday so I’ve been looking at routes. Think I’ve found a perfect 500m warmup/ 5km run / 500m warm down. Let us know how you get on 👍

Strava is a free app I use to track runs but you can also create routes on it, I'm guessing similar to what others are saying with Google maps. I like it as you can save the routes and edit them later.

I'm a Tech-Neanderthal, however an App called "Measure Distance Map" is very easy to use, very accurate AND gives you any elevation gain or decrease. It has really helped me be more "strategic" about new routes :)

Wishing you many happy miles in your future :)
