Headcold and missed a couple of runs

I finished Week 6 this week on treadmill due to icy pavements and the beginnings of an awful head cold, first for years. Felt really debilitated so haven’t yet started week 7, in fact apart from a couple of yoga classes I’ve done very little except lie on sofa! Any advice re re starting program....should I have a go at Week 6 again or go on to Week 7, have really missed the momentum I’d built up throughout January.

PS I’m 61, relatively fit but never undertaken a running program before.

Congratulations Coolcookingteacher for completing week 6 on a dreadmill, (o sorry as you are a teacher I must call it a treadmill), you are very wise running that first of 4/25 minute runs on the treadmill due to the icy weather, I just hope that head cold is not too awful.

I would not do anything strenuous while you have that head cold.

I assume regarding your username you teach Domestic Science, cooking..

Hello! My original training in the 70’s (!) was in Home Economics, changed from Domestic Science! Then it became Food Technology...then Manufacturing Food....then Food and Nutrition, then I’d had enough!

Yes I can see why with all those name changes in such a short period.

Once recovered just do as described in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and if you have not missed more than two weeks, pick up where you left off. Otherwise, see how much condition you have lost and drop back to an appropriate point in the plan.

Only you can assess this. There are no rules.

You haven’t missed any runs... while you’ve been on that sofa all warm, the runs have been out in the cold waiting for you! It takes two weeks to start losing fitness, you should be just fine resuming where you left off.
