Reasons not to run this morning:

- Minus 2 outside with snow and ice on the ground

- Nasty muscle soreness

- Really didn't want to get out of bed

- Having a really bad week

Reasons to run this morning:

- I promised myself I would

- I REALLY want to graduate from this programme with my head held high

- The sun was shining

- I have great trail shoes that have an insane amount of grip

So I ran. Perhaps the hardest run I've done yet because of the physical conditions, the tiredness and my mental state. But it's in the bag and I'm still on track. Perhaps that's enough for today. :)

Well done! You went out there and you did it and everything you mention will benefit from it. Pat on the back!! 👋

Keep the faith ✊

ps - the playlist came up with the goods at just the right moment again... when I was flagging I got "you only get what you give"... wry smile, hunker down, carry on! :)

So proud of you ! Sometimes it’s a triumph just getting out of bed. Doing that and getting out in the cold and knocking off a run you really don’t want to do ? I salute you x

Thank you. I've not even been rewarded with endorphins today. :( But it's done.

I noticed a fall off in my own endorphins yesterday. Don’t know if that’s related to cold weather ? Anyway, we’re both a run further on, so that’s good news. All the best with the next one x

And to you. :) I think I'm just a little under the weather plus my cat is sick and it's brought me down a bit. Have felt progressively better as the day has gone on though.

It’s funny the effect that having a worry or two has on running, even if you’re not consciously thinking about it. Onwards and upwards, hopefully - or maybe downwards would be better, thinking geographically 😄

Sounds like it is. Well done for doing it! I dont think I could have today. -6C and no grip. Hoping tomorrow will be better.

Those are the runs that build the mental stamina. Well done!

I hope so - I've never had much mental stamina and I could do with developing some! :)

As important to the programme as the physical stamina, I've found

Yes!! One of the reasons I’m doing this whole project is to prove (to myself) that I have the discipline to stick at something... the next time I’m feeling like you did in your post, I’m going to recall your plus/minus list... and push myself on, inspired by you. I read somewhere that ‘nobody ever felt bad for sticking to a good habit...’ 😉 x (and it’s funny what you say about the music: on my last run of my session earlier this week, ‘Happy’ by Pharrell came on my playlist. I had to chuckle!)

Glad to help (though somewhat uncomfortable in the role of sporting inspiration lol!).

What's really helped me is setting my graduation date. All my friends know and I'm having a celebration. I could face moving that because of illness or other disaster. But I'm not moving it because I couldn't be bothered to complete a run! :)

Ahhh!! What a BRILLIANT idea... *thinks*... x

It helps that it's my birthday weekend too of course. :)

Enjoy the next one.

Thank you. Certainly trying to in the face of an atrocious track record!

Very well done for breaking through that mental barrier. I bailed y'day, but am not beating myself up about it. Back on track today.
