Ok ok I’m sat here literally on my sofa (couch!) overthinking the pain I’m going to experience at 6.30am in the morning as I’m starting C25K for the first time! I’m 42 overweight and not healthy at all!! I’ve chosen sarah Millican as my voice coach and am determined to shove my butt out the door and pound the pavement. Trainers and running clothes all ready..: wish me luck! Off to read you guys inspirational stories now xx

Hi
I use Sarah too. Glad she is not being funny because I don't think I had the breath to laugh. 😂
I now have 1 more run on WK7 the on to the last 2 weeks.
I started the programme on 17th Dec and felt exactly like you do right now.
Just get up, get out and don't think you have to "run". I started with fast walk/slow jog sort of shuffle. Glad it was dark 😁 but nobody takes any notice anyway.
The aim is to keep going one foot after the other and speed does not really matter.
We will all be right there with you and here waiting to hear about it. 🙌👣💪
Top tip - the Bell 🔔means you are half way through the session! I bet you smile when you hear it 😊
Ah thats awesome I was worried it might be a comedy routine with sarah! Thanks for the bell sound tip - I shall definitely look forward to that!
Haha..! I love your run style - shuffle will definitely be something I can identify with! I’m actually looking forward to it a little more now after your reply so thanks for that! X
Welcome to the forum.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Enjoy your journey.
I felt exactly like you 3 weeks ago! I couldn’t even run for a bus! Now though I’m managing to jog for 3 minutes at a time and I’m actually enjoying it. Once you start, you will amaze yourself on what you can achieve. Remember run actually means run like a snail to start with! Just a very gentle jog x
I wanna be just like you! Right now even completing week one sounds impossible as I just know myself so well...! But I also know I can change and I will. Can’t wait to actually enjoy any form of exercise and I’m hoping running/jogging will be the one! X
I am now on week 3 and also use Sarah. I'm really enjoying the programme and am enjoying proving my doubts wrong. In week one I just about managed running for 60 seconds and doubted I would be able to progress to 90 seconds... But of course like all those doubters before me I did!
I have an addictive personality and am already getting hooked on 'the running high'.
Enjoy!
Welcome.
Enjoy that alarm when it goes off... that’s the sound of the birth of the new you. Yeah, run one will be tough, it may even hurt... but it won’t stop you... you’ll be back a couple of days later ready to go again. Run nice and slow... and you’ll get to the end of this plan... enjoy your journey
One of the best tips I heard was that when you are doing alternate running and walking, if someone is on the other side of a fence or wall and can only see your head they shouldn’t be able to tell which you are doing. The running is not about speed is is about the action of running but it doesnt have to be much faster than your brisk walking.
When I started me and my daughter were overtaken by an elderly lady power walking ( AND WE WERE RUNNING AT THE TIME ). And when I say elderly I’m 65 and she was a lot older than me 🤣🤣.
You can do it and we are all here behind you all the way
I was also apprehensive at starting C25K at the age of 58, but Sarah gives me lots of encouragement and I am now on Week5 run 2. Even if you find the first week hard, just carry on and remember to take the runs at a slow pace, as Sarah says "just a light jog". Good luck for tomorrow.
Hi - I’ve just finished week 3 and felt the same! But surprisingly I’m loving it already. I’m doing 2 of the runs with a friend and 1 on my own - I think I’m more motivated with a friend. X
You can and will do it!!
In 9weeks (or more ... It took me a lot more) you'll be graduating and feeling fantastic..just stick with the program and take it slow and steady
Good luck
