Sleepy after my morning runs

Hi! I’m on week 5 now. I’m managing the runs fairly ok but do feel sleepy for the rest of the day. I’m thinking to switch to evening runs instead. Does anyone else feel sleepy afterwards?

Yes I do when I have a choice! In other words if I fit in a run where afterwards I have to shower, change and go straight back out again because I am expected somewhere then I find I can do that and it’s no problem. But when Im not accountable to anyone else I find I just want to relax after a run.

Are you eating well and drinking lots of water? It may be an energy and hydration issue.

Yes I thought I was having enough without cancelling out all the good of the run. I didn’t get this in the earlier weeks.

The weather may well be a big factor.

Yes. Exactly why I do evening runs. Also I’d stuff my face even more than usual if I ran morning. I’ve started taking some effervescent sports drinks after morning runs (ParkRun etc) and actually evening sessions to try and make myself feel more human. They have zero calories too. I sweat a lot so I think I need a boost.

thank everyone! it’s good to know it’s not just me. Will carry on with mornings for a couple more runs and see what happens. Fingers crossed I can make it work, mornings are by far the best time for me to find the time to go out. 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️
