Hi guys. So I was on W6R3 yesterday. The big ( for me) 25 min run. I had been dreading this day for ages. To cut a long story short (you're welcome), I got a little carried away and finished up doing 7 1K. I was absolutely chuffed. No aches or pains. Question is, do I go back to the program or continue to push myself. Has anyone else had this experience and if so how did they proceed? Thanks guys. You're all amazing.
Get back on the plan and run very carefully for the next couple... this plan is designed to minimise injury risk and you’ve just gone way over the duration you should have done... I’d suggest taking an extra rest day too. Great run, everything proved now, so it’s time to focus on ending this the strongest fittest runner that you can be.
Im with Unfit on this, take it easy for a few days now, then back to the programme.
There is a general rule in running about increasing distance by no more than 10% a week which is immensely helpful when aiming to stay off the injury couch.
Sounds like you are enjoying your training which is terrific news !
Thank you. U think I'm enjoying it a little too much lol. Rest day it is. I'll get back on the plan again tomorrow. I can't believe I've gone from throwing up in a Bush on week one to this is just six weeks. The plan is pretty damn awesome. Thanks again.
As a new runner you need to continue to gently build your stamina and endurance and following the plan is a highly sensible way to proceed to graduation, consolidation and then move onto a 10k training plan.
I have a dossier of horror stories from those who were brave enough to admit their own foolishness by going their own way, only to get injured.
What is the hurry?
Slow and steady progress is always the recommended route forward, wherever you are in your running career.
