I just can’t get to 5K in 30mins !! Does it really matter?! Presumably I’ve got to improve to 6mins per Km just can’t get there! As I completed the C25k with the app I’m now on my own and need a target!

Well done on completing the whole c25k can’t wait to be in your position. Keep going 🎉

Thank you. You’ll get there as I promise you I was not a runner before but knowing you can run all your worries away means I actually look forward to it, which I NEVER ever thought i would! Good luck to you x

Hey the name is misleading as the programme is about getting u to run for 30min c25k is just the catchy name they gave it. Most people don't run 5k in 30mins someone with more knowledge will probs have more answers. Keep on the consolidation runs and after a few weeks maybe look at bridge to 10k forum. Xxx

Thank you ! Getting to run for 30mins was hard enough but the speed you need is another thing altogether!

If you're looking for a target and have completed c25k, why not head over to the bridge to 10k forum? There's a new program starting on the 11th, and building up the stamina along with doing some intervals on the shorter runs should also help increase the 5k speed.

I like the sound of the intervals but I just don’t think I could commit to 10k. It’s 3 hours per week instead of current 1 1/2.

5k in 30 minutes is an arbitrary target that only about 13% of graduates manage at graduation, according to this poll healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Have you read the guide to post C25K running? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which offers advice on routes forward.

That’s interesting I didn’t know that - only 13%! I was beating myself up! I will have a look at that link that’s great thank you for sharing.

I’m not sure it really matters, I don’t expect I’ll get anywhere near 5k on week 9 but it’s much better than I ever expected. Sometimes it helps to look back to see how far you’ve come and celebrate what you’ve achieved rather than beating yourself up about what you haven’t.

That’s very true !

Does it matter? Only you can answer that. Running, unless you’re looking to go for gold medals, is only about you, nobody else. With longer distances once a week (gradually) and some speed work every now and then it may well come, many people knock minutes off the PB in the first year or two... but it won’t change your life any more than a 35 minute 5k to be honest!
