Never ran in my 42 years, so I decided to challenge myself, I found day one okay, but I think it does help that I walk my dog twice a day, looking forward to day 2, is anyone else a complete novice like me, and feels that there running/jogging is more like an elephant stomping?

Well done for completing the hardest run on the programme and getting out the front door. I remember w1r1 I thought I was literally going to die 30sec into the first run. Yes I felt like an elephant (but then I look like one too haha). I found slowing right down and ‘kissing’ the ground when you land really helps. I’m sure there will be a post from a mentor on here with a link for newbies to read to help you complete this and lots of advice/tips for running. I’m on w8 now and wouldn’t have been able to get this far without the advice/help on here. This is the friendliest social media forum I have ever come across. Happy running 🏃‍♀️

Thank you for the advise I shall try that tomorrow, as for slowing down I think I better select my music better as go for less upbeat tempo music

Welcome JB ! One of the tips I found really helped was to try to land on the middle of your foot when you run, rather than on your heel like walking. All the best with your running journey x

You and me both ! I couldn’t jog more than twenty seconds at the start of week 1 and it took me nine weeks to conquer it ! Trust me, if you take it slow and steady and use the repeat function if you need to, you can do this. Always remember the First Rule of C25k: The only run you fail is the run you don’t go for 😄

Hi there I had never run either and skived off exercise at school as I really hated it all..I'm about to start week 5 now so clearly this program does work. The two things that have helped me have been keeping the pace slow and maybe taking an extra rest day or two when you feel you really need it. Good luck! All you really have to do is trust that the program works and ask for help on this forum when you need it - everyone is really helpful 😊

You'll probably get into it really quickly to be fair... It becomes quite addictive!

I do dog walking 7 days a week also just take your time and try not to land hard on your feet it just something you learn as you go good luck
