Hi Im just starting the c25k. I did my first session yesterday OMG it was so hard I nearly quit after 17mins but kept going. My throat today feels like Ive swollowed razor blades is that normal? And I really cant see me getting onto wk2 after 3 sessions did anyone else stay on wk1 for a bit?

The beginning feels so hard you cannot imagine ever getting to the end, but most of us do! You will surprise yourself if you stick with it - the steps up each week and between runs will be easier than you think. Just keep going :-)

Thanks I will do

I did the same last year, thought I needed to go to the GP and see what was wrong with me! Persevere! It does get easier and before long you are running for 3 minutes!!!! Believe me, that is sweet goal.

I made it all the way to 5k but took 12 weeks to do it. don't be afraid to set your own targets although Laura does help.

I am back down to week 5 now after not doing much all winter, but looking to get right back to 5k.

Keep going - it does get better.

Hi, I'm on week 8 and 7 weeks ago I was exactly where you are now. It was SOO hard. But keep at it. Week 2 is quite a gradual step up from week 1 so you may surprise yourself. That being said, if you do feel the need to repeat week 1 then there's no harm. Good luck!

Thanks good to know people have been in the same boat 😊👍

If you don't feel ready to move up a week that's ok , move up when you feel ready, the most important thing is you have made the effort to get out and take your first steps to fitness, keep going it does get easier and you will look back with pride when you reach your goal. Take it steady and enjoy your running. 😊

I too found Week 1 hard but it got easier when I slowed my run right down (only slightly faster than a brisk walk). Plus what helped me move on to week 2 was knowing that it's only 6 runs instead of 8, so to me it felt like the whole 30 mins went much quicker compared to week 1! Good luck, you can do it!

Go very slowly and you'll be ok. We can't emphasise that point enough

Don't quit!

I was expecting drivers to stop and call for medical help in the first couple of weeks - I was a breathless, swearing, red-faced wreck. Now I've got two more runs to do and I graduate... I would never have believed anyone who'd told me I'd get this far. And if I can do it, so can you. From week to week it gets better - the more you progress, the easier it gets! Hang on in there, it works. Honest!

You did it! Pat yourself on the back! I'm only on W2, I found W1 hard but managed to get through it, i can feel the benefits on W2 already and W2 is a gentle progression you get more of a walk in between, just slow your pace a bit. Dunno about the throat thing though.
