Looking forward to week 9 runs, I feel I can do it !! But feel a little sad that the end of this bit of the journey is in sight. What a drama queen am I 🧟♂️ it’s like I don’t want to grow up and be a graduate quite yet, I still don’t see myself as anything like a proper runner. Did anyone else feel a bit at sea? I love the structure of C25k and I feel I need it to keep me going. I need another goal or goals to aim for but not quite sure how to go about it. I’m nowhere near 5k in distance, so I imagine that’ll be the next step ?? Also haven’t yet read anything about running beyond C25k but I know there’s info out there. Is there anything specific I need to do next, apart from enjoying my week 9 that is!

Week 9 jitters
Hi JT489, I was very much looking forward to graduation 🎓, but when reading Lord of the Rings for the first time I decided to slow down the reading when I realized I was way past the middle of the last book, because I did not want to part with the story. So I guess I understand your feeling! 😉
When you decide to graduate 😜 you could create your own consolidation plan to reach 5K over a few weeks (as you say there is a nice post regarding post C25K life out there explaining how to increase safely). And then if you are up for new challenges you could try the Magic 10 program by ju-Ju- to reach 10k. And then...
Onwards and upwards! Happy running!! Looking forward to your graduation post!!! 🎓🎉👏🎊🍾🏆
Many thanks for LotR comparison...it’s exactly like that! 😄I feel I want to be in it for longer and be listening to the encouraging voice of Laura forever!
Oh, I may have good news for you...!! 😃You can keep listening to our beloved Laura while going for a new challenge. 💪 There are C25K+ podcasts with her!!! Stepping stones, Speed and Stamina nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/c...
I got started with them just after graduating and struggled a bit 🥴, then got advice here to consolidate for a couple of weeks before trying them again, but now I am alternating the first 2 as prep for the bridge to 10k. It is great to keep her company!!! 👏
Hi. I'm running my last week8 run tomorrow. I have felt good the last 3 runs so carried on for the full 30 minutes. My last run I actually ran 3.1 miles in 40 minutes and run my first park run this Saturday. The plan has been brilliant and wouldn't have achieved it without. As a novice runner I would say keep running a little longer every week and see where it takes you. Good luck.
That’s great, I have felt good about week 8, and it’s forced me to run in nearby park which is a much nicer experience visually! How did the park run compare with your 40 minute run ?
A number go on to do Parkrun which is well suited to the next step. You can walk, jog or run it, no one minds and there is usually coffee and cake somewhere near on offer afterwards.
It also gives you a bit of structure to the week which is something some graduates struggle with.
It is inclusive as the rest of the family can take part either running or volunteering.
Take a look at the pictures.
