Having never run for anything other than a bus or last orders since 1984, I knew it was going to be tough.
I set myself the target of finishing the course by Christmas, and I've just done the final week 9 run this morning.
I felt good at the start, though I went out too fast and it was only sheer bloody-mindedness that got me to the end. But I did it. 5.14k in 30 minutes.
I mostly really enjoyed the course, but getting up at 5:30 three times a week was hard at times, and I actually finished three days behind schedule. I suppose that's not bad, considering the weather at this time of year.
I'm not convinced that Michael Johnson was "with me all the way", but he kept me going.
So what next? Well (and here's the real reason why I started the Couch-to-5k), the local bar has a Wednesday night running club (get fit, then drink beer! What could be more agreeable?). And when I'm not having to work on Saturdays, there's the local park run.
I'll keep it up for as long as my body lets me.
But for now, there's some last-minute Christmas shopping to do.
I think I'd prefer to run another 5k!
