Back in the game!! Cold, dark and feeling naked!

Woke up at half 5 this morning (day off) couldn’t sleep. Wide awake. Not being for a run for around 3 months. It was freezing out. I had my usual shorts on and the head torch I had bought 3 months earlier but never used. Did my loop I did when I first started. It was pitch black (country lane) apart from my head torch and dead foggy too. After a while I soon warmed up. I wasn’t planning on running the whole amount (probably less than 4K) knee ached slightly ( some undiagnosed injury - the reason I’ve not run for so long) But by god it felt so good! I had some cheesy Christmas songs on. It was perfect!! Just me myself and I.

I know I still need to get the knee sorted but I know running and a little knee niggle is so much better to have than feeling rundown and to be honest slightly depressed. (Not diagnosed by a dr)

I’ve always known exercise helps so much with all that jazz and I hope to keep it up this time. I might introduces bit of cycling to soften the blow as it were.

Thanks for reading. You’ve been amazing.

Welcome back! Ease back in nice and gently, you’ll have lost a lot of endurance. Do you have a knee support on? I did a couple of weeks in a knee brace and it did wonders.

Thank you. No I haven’t tried one but have been thinking about it. Not sure which type to go for? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Glad to have you back ! This isn’t a great time of year mentally - I speak from experience - so anything that stirs up the old endorphins has got to be good. Keep us posted on how it goes x

Thank you! I appreciate that. Yeah I have a lot going on mentally and it can sometimes fill your head so the run does tend to help. Hows your running going? Are you getting out as much as you’d like?

I’m getting out fairly regularly at the moment, but family requirements can get in the way at any time. It’s just a case of doing what I can when I can ! Making slow but steady progress, which is encouraging. We just have to keep getting out there 😀

Yeah. Absolutely same situation. Life sort of takes over doesn’t it. But we have to get out there for all our sanity. 😊

Could it be a shoe issue causing the knee pain? There seem to be a lot of people around who have remedied niggling leg-joint pains with correct shoes, and or insoles. Would it be worth getting gait analysis?

The worst time of year for those down and gloomy feelings, I sympathise. Well done for venturing out, especially in the dark and fog. Take care.

I thought that but I’ve had the gait analysis done! That’s why I’m fairly unsure what it is 🤷🏻‍♂️
