So close, absolutely gutted 😞

I completed my w8r3 last weekend, felt absolutely amazing and buzzing that I only had 3 runs to complete. my back is a mess following a RTA 20 years ago (I’m 41) and heavy scaring, so I started this journey back in September taking it very carefully, then last Monday in Pilates - bang, my back seized up. It’s the worse it’s been for a very very long time, just hard to keep morale up when I’m in so much pain. It is easing, my mind wants to go go go, but my back says no no no. Which week should I go back too, once I know I feel ready? Feeling very sorry for myself 😔

Oh no! How frustrating for you. I broke my arm recently and had to have 3 weeks enforced rnr. When I returned I repeated the last run I'd done and was ok. I'm afraid I cant advise on backs, other than to suggest physio or maybe try swimming? Hope you recover very soon.

You won't know whether you have to go back until you know how long you have been away from running. Even then it will be a matter of going out to see what you can manage. This is the same for every runner, regardless of experience.

Take care and get back soon.

Oh no... I hope it’s better sooner rather than later. If it’s less than two weeks from your last run you should be good to continue, after that you’ll have to see what you got left. Gently as you go first few runs though. Get well soon

Sorry to hear about your back, I’ve just had 3 weeks off and was on W8 R2. I went back out and ran VERY slowly and ran just over 20 minutes. I realised (the hard way!) that it’s better to take it very slow and steady and listen to my body and that graduation of C25k isn’t the finishing line as I want to always run. I loved that 20 minute run, and if I don’t graduate for 10 years I’ll at least still be running and not a crumpled mess at the end! Wishing you a speedy recovery x

I’ve recently had a bad back & just getting better. I’m going to start almost back to the beginning in the New Year I think. I had completed the programme & so was frustrated to have to stop, but I know the muscles need to recover.

Poor you ! I’d start at the next run but take it gently - go out to enjoy and explore it rather than thrash it. There’s a repeat facility if you need to take more than one go at it, so don’t worry. Remember, the only run you fail is the run you don’t go for ! All the best with it x
