Week 4 completed a day later than planned due to removal of wisdom teeth, mouth still bloody hurts

Anyway did last run in gym and even managed to sprint for last 30 Seconds, it was that or give up as I felt tire

My question is, is it easier to run in the gym or out on the streets ?

Starting week 5 tomorrow, gym or road / grass?

For me personally, running in the gym is simply too hot. I quite enjoy the treadmill once a week otherwise, but I think I’d struggle using it more than that. Fortunately I don’t need to currently. 😀🏃‍♀️

Good for you doing your 30 second sprint! Sounds like you’re determined and that will help you through the remainder of the programme. 👏👍👊

My experience is indoors is easier... it is very different...indoors you have control of most everything... outdoors, no control, except your route and your running...... every run is different... and every run is incredible!

Did a couple of runs early in the program when it was frosty and foggy Ended up with calf problems causing discomfort.

Will go out on the road tomorrow and see how it goes

Just take it steady... it was vile here this morning and as I have been ill... OH refused to let me run outside.. so I was on my trainer.... the only good bit for me is the speed and distance I cover when I am on it :)

Run it where you’re comfortable. You’re doing great. There is an adjustment to make if you switch between indoors and out... as someone who doesn’t get on with the treadmill I’m very aware that the same is true in reverse.

I find anything other than short intervals a tedious bore on the treadmill, and find I am clock watching the whole time, plus I run hot so temperature is an issue in the gym. I road run with a bit of occasional trail thrown in. I prefer the variety of outdoor running, the sights and sounds and variable terrain. Of course the negative of running outside is you are in the lap of the Gods with the weather, today I will almost certainly be getting soaked to the skin, but hey, it doesn't matter, I'll get dry again. Maybe mix it up a bit and see what suits you best.

Hi Jimbo, huge kudos for running after wisdom tooth extraction. Only one day delay? What a hero. I can't compare gym versus open air, coz I have never run inside. My wife had a treadmill once upon a time, but I never used it. Always felt a bit too false. I enjoy the outdoor running a lot and our house is far too warm to be able to do meaningful exercise in there. My wife has arthritis, so it's a bit like an oven at home. Enjoy the fresh outdoors. I use a windcheater top and a baseball cap, just in case it rains. I have not yet been drenched and am starting week 7 today.
