Nearly fell off the wagon

I came down with flu 3 days ago and delayed my W6R1 from Sunday to Monday. I waited 4 hours until the sun was shining and set off. My chest and back muscles were aching and I had a pounding headache. When I coughed, it was like my lungs were going to pop inside out. When I got through the first five minutes, I thought of giving up. But I changed route to make sure I was close to home after the second run. By that stage, I knew I was going to make it. The legs were shaky and I wondered if I were being stupid to invite an injury. But I did it, and am now back on track. I start a new job tomorrow away from home, so will be finding new routes to try.

Glad you made it, but a bit worried about you ! Sometimes it’s better to ease up on yourself a little and take some rest, and if it’s real rather than masculine flu, that’s usually one of those times. Keep those fluids up and look after yourself, Mercman - we don’t want pneumonia setting in x

Yes it is real. I have only had flu twice in my life. The first time was three years ago. I know the difference. I am relying on my new diet and exercise in fixing me faster than lounging around in a warm room. I hope I am right.

Mercman, that's some determination, but I also think you need to get well before you run again. Give yourself a day or two to recover. Please!

Self and wife saw the GP this afternoon. He said the same. Got some antibiotics (surprised) but for elective use if (in 2 days) there is no improvement

Very sensible. If you’re bored and fretting, why not try out the NHS Strength and Flex podcasts ? Keep those muscles built up while you’re waiting ! With your attitude you’ll be back out there very soon 😀

I have been reading about that. Can't think of where I find a length of railings :-)
