I've just finished week 9 and everyone on here has been so helpful and supportive I feel I should do my bit as an advocate for the programme and to encourage those in the early stages.
I'm 53, I was always obese until I was 45 and never a runner. I lost 4 stone but I was never a runner.
My knees were creaking and I had both of my hips replaced and lost 6 more stone but I was never a runner.
I started cycling and gained some fitness, but I was never a runner,
I'm still overweight (BMI 27.5) , but my wife started Park Running again and I saw lots of people doing 5km Park runs and I thought, 'this is such a fantastic community activity, all free, administered by volunteers and making best use of public spaces, I want to be part of this',
But I wasn't as runner, so I started couch to 5k in secret from my runner wife. After 2 weeks I revealed what I was up to and she has supported me tremendously since.
On Friday even I managed to run w9r3 5k in 30 mins 20 secs.
ON Sunday I did another 5k in Santa Suit without stopping in 31 minutes.
I'm delighted and telling everyone who's started to KEEP GOING and everyone who's tempted to GET STARTED.
Good Luck
Signed
A runner
