W3R1 “nice and steady”

“Nice and steady” is the key for sure. W1R1 was worse, as a lot of people say. It seems a big part of this for a lot of people is just to find the time and get motivated for the run in the first place especially at this time of year. Once I accomplish that mental hurdle I found the next thing was, ironically, to stop myself going to quickly at the start knowing it would make it possible to actually finish at the end. “Just a light jog” works, it’s like my legs are slowly getting used to being running legs again. I find a podcast works better than music to help me lose track of time in the 3min runs rather than the beat of a song with verse chorus verse etc. Doing the same Sun, Tues, Thurs as some others is good mentally too... feels like I’m ahead of the game once the first one if done on a Sunday. Legs aching but feeling happy with myself.

I did that run yesterday and doing R2 tomorrow I hope. Let’s cheer each other on!

Sounds like a plan 👍 I’ve been wondering if there are any sub groups for different stages of the plan so those in the same week can all cheer each other on. This definitely helps with the mental motivation!

It would be useful wouldn’t it. I was meant to get up and go first thing but I’m still in bed drinking tea 😂😂 🏃🏻‍♀️👟☕️

You got it! Slow and steady, take your rest days, you've got it nailed!

Thanks, I’ve realised this time how important the rest days are as well for muscle repairing. Good mantra!

Yes, keep at it but take it steady. You are in it for the long run (all puns intended). I have just completed week 6, so a bit ahead of you. I can now see the wisdom of taking things slow and not overdoing it ... knees are a bit sore but no injuries (touch wood). That is what you want! Go too hard and risk hurting yourself. You are doing great, so stick to the plan.

Thanks. It is tempting to go a bit faster or further on the odd days with a bit more energy but definitely don’t want injuries. Good advice.
