As I'm getting towards the end of the app, am planning ahead. Going to do a few weeks of 5K, not timed, just distance. Just want to know those that have completed it & are continuing to run, do you still have 5 mins walking either end?

Thanks

Well done for nearing the end of the programme. Incredible feeling isn’t it? 😀

You’re doing the right thing after as most people consolidate their 3 x 30 minutes for a few weeks before moving on to faster/longer/both, and I for one still do at least 5 minutes of walking either end. Usually more, as I have my dog with me. 🏃‍♀️🐕❤️

Enjoy your running SnailRunner, and good luck with graduating! 👏👏

Thank you. 4 runs to go! Hoping to get out this afternoon.

Warming up is absolutely crucial to get muscles ready for action, or you increase your injury risk.

Elite athletes do it, so should we.

Cool down is a bit more contentious, although I personally still finish every run with a cool down walk and a stretching regime to help realign muscles and tweak them while supple and flexible.

Definitely continue to add 5 minutes warm up and warm down.

I don't turn on / stop / record my run until I'm well away from home.

I sometimes add a short and slow 1 minute jog to remind my body what to do before a longer run.

Hope this helps? 😸

Well done on your achievements so far - I ‘graduated’ last weekend and am doing exactly what you plan. Running for 5k x 3 each week. I take my dogs and yes I start /finish with 5 minute walk to warm up/cool down. Good luck for your next few runs ...it’s an amazing feeling! 🏃🏻‍♀️😉
