I'm Andrew, started C25K a few weeks ago, and hoping my knees will hold up better this attempt! Unfortunately 40 years of playing Table-Tennis has taken it's toll and last time I tried running, 6 years ago, I had to stop. But jogging on grass this time seems easier than on roads I tried before. Need to lose weight, and hoping along with slightly better diet, and less alcohol will do the trick!

Thanks Tasha. I've been using Reebok Classics for any walking, outdoor activity over the last few years, as comfortable, wide and good cushioning. Are these considered ok for jogging or would you suggest dedicated shoes advertised for running only.
I’d get proper ones. If you don’t want to get a gait analysis yet, get a neutral shoe. Could be a good motivator too. There are some decent deals if you’re not looking for the latest style 👌🏽
Welcome. Keep it nice and slow. Grass will help with impact (when it isn’t frozen) until the knees strengthen.
Depends on which Reebok Classic you have, there are a couple in the range that are running shoes, but a modern one will help more I think. Good shoes really do help minimise pain.
Thanks UNM. I'm not sure knees will strengthen, previous physio some years ago had to stop as was making worse, and an x-ray showed Degenerative Arthritis to the knee-cap. But I've cut down competitiveTable-Tennis to once a week and apart from a little soreness, and twinges, so far managing. Just completed week 3 today with a lovely run through Belfairs Woods, close to where we live. Paths were a little slippery due to leaves, but most enjoyable.
We shall see on the knees... I know running can help you not get arthritic conditions, not sure if it can reverse their development to be honest. The muscles and tendons should develop though and hold it all together better.
Not too many weeks of leaves left, they’re a pain in the butt for sure, but conkers and sweet chestnuts were not good!
You’re doing great, one third done, and hopefully the knees will stay pretty quiet. Enjoy week 4
Hi and we'll done for giving it a go. If you're running on leaves and grass it might be worth looking at a pair of trail shoes or hybrids to keep you safe. Good shoes are definitely worth it if it helps keep those knees safe.
Get your gait tested asap! I didn't and I'm on the injury couch after spraining my right knee after a nice long 8k. Do it as soon as and prevent anything nasty
Usually a running shop. If you Google 'Gait testing' with your location on, it should spit out a good few. If your in the Midlands, I can highly recommend running fox in Loughborough, they're excellent there.
