Urgh. Week 6 run 2 ......what a struggle!!!!

Goodness me. Just completed week 6 run 2 and it's by far the hardest I have completed. I can't believe how hard I found it and I'm really dreading the next run.... 25 minutes. It just seems like it's going to be impossible. Do I re do this run or try and attempt run 3??? My legs felt like lead and I literally dragged myself to the finish line, huffing and puffing and sweating like mad lol. Any advice would be appreciated :)

Well done, you did it.

Next run, start slow, stay slow, at the easy conversational pace described in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... believe in yourself and trust the plan.

Is your hydration adequate? You should be drinking an absolute minimum of two litres per day, preferably more. It has a huge impact on performance.

Try the next run in the process.........what have you got to lose?

Thanks for the advice. I've just worked a 12 hour shift, but I struggle to find time to run as well as looking after my two children (single mum). I do think I'm running a bit fast but I've managed that OK in the past on the shorter runs and I'm vastly aware that both my parents have completed this programe successfully!! I'll give it a go..... But slower.

10.6kph? Less than 6min per Km? I'd definitely at least START slower! I've not yet managed a 6min km at my fastest. Of course, you may be younger than me, but seriously think about taking it slower.

Good grief! My pace on the thread mill is 6km for my running which at times I drop to 5 or 5.5. But you may be miles younger and fitter than me. Take it easy or slower for the longer runs maybe xx

I've learnt my lesson. It was too fast. I think in my head I was aiming to run 5k in 30 mins, but that's not the aim of this programe.

I see, no take it easy, you can build your pace once you’ve finished. At least you know you can smash out that pace when you need to. I’d be on the floor! Well done

Oh dear don’t read my W7R1 post. I struggled. However I loved W6R3. Hey You did it. That’s a success and you now know that you can do it. Try some different music or scenery to break your memory of this tough one.

Haha I'm going to read it now lol. I'm going to try all your suggestions but unfortunately the treadmill offers few choices of view apart from my sweaty face 😂

Give the next run a go, make sure you get plenty of fluids into you before your run. I try and drink 2-3 litres a day but on my run day I try and drink a litre at least an hour before I run. I didn’t like the first run of week 6, but runs 2 and 3 were ok, tough but ok.

Don’t go too fast to begin with.

Good luck xxxxxx

I struggled with the first 2 runs of week 6,but then was fine with the 3rd one.

Just keep it slow and steady and you will surprise yourself.......you have already run for 20 minutes without stopping at the end of week 5.

You can do this....! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Good Morning Yolland,

Well done! No matter how hard you found it, you did it. Congratulate yourself. Take confidence from it. I have every faith in you that having completed so much preparation in previous weeks you will run the 25 minutes, although choose your route carefully without lots, or any, hills. The Guru Nanak temple near where I live has a running track that is open to the public from 4am to 9pm free of charge so I go there as it is flat and safer than running on pavements. Don’t forget to congratulate yourself.

I found first 2 runs of week 6 a nightmare but just did run 3 yesterday and it was fine! Usual battle but my body eventually gave up and settled into my usual shuffle! By the time I was halfway I knew I could keep going. It’s easier than pausing then trying to ramp it back up again to a trot. You’ll do it. Trust the app. I’m not a runner by inclination or build- but I did it and Sarah (I use her as my coach) told me I am now officially a RUNNER. Shocker! Lol

Very well done you. I think it was running again after the break in the middle which resulted in it being such a struggle. Trying week 3 later today so wish me luck!

I did week 6 day 2 on Wednesday. I too found it really hard. I did the 25 minute run yesterday and found it much easier than the 2 10 minute runs. Trust the program you can do this!

W6R2 was my stinker run; I only got through it by telling myself I'd only have to try the whole nightmare again if I quit.

That run tried to break you, and it couldn't. Laugh in its face and enjoy the next one.
