I can do this!! When will I be slim and toned as well as fitter?! I enjoyed it tonight.. my latest prob is living in semi rural and pitch black roads. Maybe I can drive to somewhere with lights or to a track as if I fall over (or get run over!) I will be properly miffed!! Now .... any other ladies having knackered pelvic floor issues and does this get better as you get fitter/lighter?? Sorry boys.. delicate subject

No personal experience of the pelvic floor issue but probably worth a trip to the doctor to see what they recommend. Yes, I used to run when I worked and the winter nights are not great for running in rural areas, could you find a group in a local town and join them for a few months, or the dreadmill?

Woohoo! You can do this!

Did you know that pelvic floor physiotherapy is a thing?! It’s awkward but amazing... well worth it. Yes, getting lighter will help but no guarantees that will solve your issue.

Another vote for pelvic floor Physio! Definitely worth looking for someone trained in this. Can make a huge difference.

Mine has only gotten worse :-( My SIL found an amazing program by a doc with detailed instructions on YouTube and she swears it completely cured her! I'm going to look into it. If I can find think link again, I'll post it for you.

I would be interested in this too as I have a prolapse and have been advised to stop running! Gutted about it so would welcome anything which helps me to continue x

It's really good that you enjoyed your session... there is certainly the potential for all the benefits you hope for but people do best if they can live in the moment with the experience as the benefits don't arrive in careful progression and often the physical ones not until you've acquired the tool that the C25K programme is offering you and running regularly afterwards.

Do check out the guide in the Pinned Posts.

As to pelvic floor, as others have said, professional attention can be really helpful and many of us add in other forms of exercise to support our running which may help pelvic floors (and it isn't just a problem for women by any means)

Basic measures such as a visit to the loo before you go are a good idea and also useful information for your health professional (if you've 'been' but still have problems on a C25K length session that could be a sign that your bladder's not emptying fully)

Some weird good news... the way many of us sweat, it isn't obvious what a damp patch is from! Wearing a long t shirt, or one of the leggings/skirt combos you can get may help you feel more confident.

Head torches are invaluable for running in the dark and reflective kit of course.... I don't need to run in the dark but I don't run straight from home, I drive to preferred terrain.

Enjoy!

Lesswobblypls well done! You're not alone in your wants or worries.

Loosing weight/getting toned - as GoogleMe says, try to live in the moment and be patient about these issues. They are part of the reason I started C25K, they are still relevant, but the sense of achievement at getting to the point I am at now (about to start W8R1) so outweighs those issues. I never through I would be a runner, let alone enjoy it. Now I can't wait to get out each time. Once you can run for more than 30 minutes the other benefits will begin to happen.

Pelvic floor issues - I had the surprise of my life when this happened to me. I thought it only happened to ladies with children. I would say I don't have this problem at any other time! ;D

Anyway, I did a little research and I found Kegel8 online.

kegel8.co.uk/kegel8-ultra.h...

It's a little pricey, and I haven't tried it yet because my problem seems to have calmed down a little. But a friend of mine said she used it and it worked wonders (she has a little boy). Obviously a medical opinion should be obtained first.

Other than that I found that not drinking too much tea or coffee for a few hours before a run helped, as they are diuretics...... and panty liners.

Keep going with c25k...it's amazing!

GoogleMe has given you some great advice..it is a slow process to fitness and well being. Link this with a healthy eating regime and you may see some results in weight loss.

Pelvic floor muscles... please, if you have been advised not to run, do get that checked out again... and make sure it is not going to exacerbate and existing issue....

Maybe you could try these...

I’ve had the benefit of pelvic floor physiotherapy as I had a prolapse post hysterectomy. I told her all about my running and yoga and was not advised to stop, as long as it felt comfortable. I believe it helps with core strength so that’s all good. I’ve been told to do 10 sets of kegels every day - there is a free NHS app called Squeezy to remind you and give instructions. Think it’s £3.99 so worth a try. Not as much fun as C25K though!! Good luck!

Imagine holding an old penny between your buttocks, and squeezing your buttocks together, whilst walking or running... :) It works wonders for your glutes too :)

You could do this on your walking section.

After having a very large baby I went to the Dr and got a thing called 'Pelvic Toner' on a prescription. It was really good and helped a lot. I had to make an effort and actually remember to use it but it was worth it. My Dr hadn't realised that it was something that could be available on prescription but typed it into his computer and signed for it straight away!
