Well I really enjoyed R1 on Friday. gave up on R2 on Sunday due to extremely sore thighs. Tried R2 again tonight and almost did it. I walked 1run and 20sec of another. I think I’m gonna stick with W1 for a few weeks until I can do it comfortably. My target has gone to the wall but I’m planning on carrying on. I WILL DO MY LOCAL PARKRUN. 😃😃😃

Damn right you’ll run that parkrun... many times over. A target date is all well and good... but it’s insignificant compared to the long term goal really. Keep putting yourself on that start line and you will succeed... you’ll also be a great inspiration to others for whom the start of this is a struggle. Keep on running.

Doesn’t matter how often you have to keep repeating runs the most AMAZING thing is you are doing it. It will get better eventually, just remember if you don’t try you will never know. I now am starting to know. Just finished week 3. Wish me luck on week 4 run 1. (well let’s be honest very light jog/shuffle) but I’m getting there and so can we all . ENJOY the feeling you get when you go further than before . Take care n good luck 😉

I started running with my daughter, who is half my age(65), and she had been running for a couple of months already. I hadn’t run for 25 years.

She was faster than me and although we did most of C25k together, some runs I did near my home, and she did near hers-50 miles apart. On these runs she was much faster than me and I always felt I held her back by plodding.

We both graduated last May, and then she ran only a few more times in June. I was running alternate days and got to 10k ...loving it. Then, end of June, whilst out walking I fractured my ankle...12 weeks not running. And during this time my daughter ran once. Whereas I cdnt wait to get back to it and as soon as I could, with my boot and elbow crutches was walking ..as much as possible everyday, 50 miles in August , 75 in September and finally, end of September with the all clear, back to running C25k from the beginning again.

She hasn’t run since one run with me in early sept.

And even though I’m slower than her IM STILL RUNNING.

So what I’m trying to say is, Don’t Sweat it, do your runs a bit slower and you’ll get there. It’s easier when it’s slower and it still counts. And you can speed up later but KEEP GOING. You can do it!!

Thanks everyone your encouragement means a lot. I will do my PARKRUN. I think the 9 wks will stretch somewhat but with the help of my 17yr old son I can do it.

Stick at it - goals that are easy are not as satisfying to achieve - one foot in front of the other ....and repeat
