Well I completed this run this morning. Have completed all runs on the treadmill- would love to progress to running outside, any tips on this? So worried it’ll be so much harder!

Wk 9 run 1
We here on C25K call a threadmill a DREADMILL😂 because most people who run🏃 outside hate😕 running🏃 on a threadmill when they are at the gym. Different surfaces outside if you have been using the threadmill, just be slow and steady while you are running outside.
I have just completed Week 8 again today, mostly, but not all on the treadmill. There is a comfort and certainty about the treadmill, and once you get into the habit it is hard to get outside again, especially as the weather worsens. I am finding running outside is getting a bit daunting. But reading your post, and a few others, has made me determined to do the last three runs of Week 9 outside, whatever the weather throws up next week.
Someone hold me to that please!
My normal run, on our Promenade, was today under water with thunderous seas, and is now impassable with stones, sand and seaweed. So that is my excuse for using the treadmill today, yet again.....
I think ‘daunting’ is the right word.. I’m quite comfortable with the treadmill.. I can nip on it when the kids are napping etc- so just fits in a bit easier. I’m scared I will fail on a run but at the same time I know I would feel like a ‘proper runner’ if I get outside. Ive bought some clothing for the weather so I have every intention of doing it, I just need a push I guess. I think in my head if I complete C25k I know I can do it then I can use running outside as my next goal. At the end of the day I think treadmill or outside we all deserve a massive ‘well done’.. if you told me last year I’d be able to run for 30 minutes I’d have laughed my head off!!!
Wells done. Running outside is different, it’s not harder as such, al AlMorr said a lot of us outdoors types don’t do well on the treadmill.
The biggest difference is having to pace yourself. When you come into the great outdoors go nice and slowly and find your slow pace, then work up from there.
That said I’d say graduate indoors, and consolidate it so that 30 minutes is comfortable. I don’t know what the weather will be like by then, it could be better to over winter on the treadmill and then come to play out in the spring.
