The couch-quitting runner went up the hill

Turning blue,

The couch-quitting runner went up the hill

Turning blue,

The couch-quitting runner was turning blue,

But she gritted her teeth,

Said “I’ll do this too !”

And she . . . didn’t exactly fly, but she did complete the run. Which means that in the time it takes the averagely fit person to complete the programme, I have completed the first week. Am I downhearted ? Definitely not. I can already run further and faster than I could as a teenager ! I’m awarding myself one last week to consolidate, and then it’s hey for another nine weeks on week 2 ! Thanks, everyone, for all your advice and support. I couldn’t have got even this far without you x

Good for you. True grit has got you through, and it will get you through Week 2 - in however long it takes.

Thanks AD. Doesn’t matter how long it takes - the secret is in just doing it 😄

Well done you! 🎉👍

I love the fact that you just do what you can and make the effort. It's not a race, you just do what your comfortable doing.

Isn't it great to be able to say, "I have ran further than I ever have."?

I used to try out for my AAA badge when I was younger, and just missed out. It was always about, beating the clock. We used to do cross country up the hill at the back of the school and through the tea bushes. Everyone was so competitive. I wanted to do it for fun, but that wasn't the done thing.

So now, it's all about the FUN.

Just go out and enjoy each run you do.

Thanks BlueCal. My memories of school sport are almost complete misery, so it has been a surprise and a joy to find that I’m kind of enjoying this now I can go on my own terms. I believe my record for slowest ever round our cross country course is still standing after 35 or so years ! 😄

How lovely ButtercupKid, another great poem from you, congratulations on completing week 1, you say that it took you 9 weeks to complete and will take you 9 weeks to complete week 2.

I fully understand why you are not downhearted and are quiet rightly happy, well done. If you do take 9 weeks to complete every week of C25K you will graduate🎓 in April or May 2020.😊🎓That is what I call persevering and dedication👍

Thanks AlMorr. I hope it won’t take quite that long. My fiftieth birthday is early that year, so maybe I should aim for that ! 😄

Woohoo!! You've got this ButtercupKid. I think you're the strongest, grittiest person I have come across in a long time.

Keep going girl (and keep those songs coming - I love them 🎶). One day you might even tell us you flew!!

Living (and jogging) in hope, Tartancat ! Thanks for all your encouragement x

I am quite sure you will be able to complete C25K by your 49th birthday, what will happen is that all of a sudden you will get quicker in completing the weeks, instead of taking 9 weeks to complete each C25K week as in week 1&2, each week for you after week 2 will be completed sooner, of course the weather and darker longer nights could have a say. I know your are not like the idiot jogger you saw the other day running in the dark along a main road, I am certain that guy is not a member of this forum. 😂

Certainly hope not ! I do my best to go off road and in broad daylight myself 😀
