Last night I completed week 2, I had in week 1 done a ‘2days in a row’ as I felt it was quite easy, but after some strongly worded advice on here I had had my recovery days between runs
W2R3 brought me to 3.93K including the 5min warm up and 5 min cool down. As it wasn’t raining, and it probably will be for the next couple of days, I carried on to 5k following the 90sec run and 2 min walk pattern in 37:04 (I’m ready for another telling off)
I’m looking forward to week 3. I’m slowly getting my head round the 43year long theory of “I’m not a runner” changing to “I can actually do this!” and can’t wait for the 5k to fall within the app timing and I don’t think it’s far from reach now.
There is a ParkRun near me and I’m tempted to give it a go this Saturday, as I have a rare free day due to booking the weekend off to do a Remembrance Day ride on the M60 with about 2,000 other bikers “the ring of red” on Sunday
I usually either working or I have my daughter, so I’m really considering doing it while I can, any advice?

Get to parkrun, it's great. Don't try and run it though, just start your warm up walk as they say go, do the normal session and walk the rest (maybe a little run over the finish line)
I walked a whole one, its not an issue, they love us turning up!
A good time would be smiling the whole way round and making it literally a good time! Then you’ll have set a PB at that particular parkrun that you can beat later with a new good time!
Parkrun is fab, best invention ever! My only regret is not going sooner, you do not have to run it, there will be all sorts of people there, of many different shapes sizes and abilities, go along, say hello to people, listen to the briefing, let the racing snakes and gazelles fly off, start near the back, use it as one of your programme ‘runs’ including the 5min warm up and warm down walk.
You will find it welcoming, and I guarantee you will not be last - make sure you register and print off your barcode before you go - you’ll need it at the end to get your finish token scanned - then you’ll be off on another ‘running’ journey opening another supportive and inclusive community with parkrun!
Have a look on your chosen parkrun’s web page or Facebook page, that’ll tell you what you need to know.
Do it, do it, do it! And come back and tell us what you thought afterwards.
Yes, just check out the times posted for your local Parkrun: at the last one I ran in 37:04 would put you about 280th out of 350 so you'd be in the top 80%, finishing 15 minutes ahead of the last person.
Do the park run, it's fun and it will help with your couch to 5k progress although I think couch to 30 mins is a better description. I finished the app 2 months ago, do park runs and do 5k a day on the treadmill, down to 29 mins for the 5k and lost 2 stone. The park run is a great way to do 5k, whether by running or the occasional walk but it will help. At the end of the day it is about enjoying getting fitter.
