Week 9 Run 2. Advice, please, after one week not running.

A week ago I arrived at, and completed, W9R1. By and large I did that by always running 1 day, then taking 1, or sometimes 2, rest days before the next run. However I have been abroad working for a week during which time I couldn't do any running. Does anyone have any advice on how I should restart? Should I just go for W9R2 and accept a "practice" run if it transpires thus?! Or am I better to do a shorter run or two to get back up to speed? Graduation is close, but I would really appreciate some help and advice on crossing that line.Thanks.

You should be fine to just carry on. You might even find you are better for a rest. As you say it could be a practice, but you are unlikely to have lost much fitness after a week.

Just carry on.... take it, as ever slowly and steadily... it takes a while to lose fitness!

Just warm up really well... set off slowly and find your happy pace:) You will do this:)

Thanks Oldfloss! I wanted to do it, but I wasn't confident enough to just go for it, Great to hear it probably won't have deserted me after a week off!!! I'll take your advice and do a slow and steady. Thank you.

It works for so many of us :) I shall watch for your post :)

I had a week off in week 9 and picked up no problem. Go for it. You will be fine.

Thanks SCB1. Seems to be the consensus. I shall do as you all advise. Thank you.

If you don't run for a fortnight, you might just notice a drop in condition but in a week you won't notice any changes.

Thanks IannodaTruffe. First time running in my 55 years, so I wasn't sure how quickly my 2 months newly built stamina et al would dissipate! Thank you for the reassurance.

As requested by Oldfloss, here is my post to say I did it😅! Thanks my friends for your advice and encouragement. I'm away for another week this week coming, but I now know I can get that W9R3 done next weekend!

Fabulous. Could you jiggle the timetable to fit in running while you are away? If this is a regular part of your working life you will find it frustrating not to run once you are postgrad and have the bug!

I agree with everyone else, you will be absolutely fine to carry on where you left off, just beware of gremlins taking advantage and making you think you can't do it! They might need a kick up the backside!
