Week 4

2nd run of week 4 completed this morning finding the jump to 5 mins running so hard, usually the first run of the new week is tough since the running is longer but by second run I’m adjusted and ok, this time I’ve found the 5mins a struggle and although I haven’t stopped I felt like I wanted to several times, now really concerned that as week 5 comes and I know the 3rd run is 20mins how will I ever do it! 😱🙆🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Great job. 5 minutes was tough, but it met a worthy adversary in Claireespo... and it went down. Using the mental strength to complete runs is no bad thing, in fact it’s a big positive that you can do that when you think about it. Don’t fear week 5... you’ll be ready... it’s a great week. Enjoy closing week 4 out.

Thanks, I’m trying not to jump ahead of myself as still 3 runs to do before that one but couldn’t help looking, you’re right that the mental strength def comes in to play, start having conversations with myself in my head about pushing through, going to take it 1 run at a time

A lot of this is mental challenge to be honest... the programme takes care of the physical development. Message on here when you’re facing it and we will cheer you on.

I did run 1 of week 4 last night and am finding the fact that I have been a cyclist for a long time helpful. Shins are a bit sore today and I am hoping they are better tomorrow as that olis when run 2 is scheduled. I agree that a lot of it is mental which is where my cycling also comes in. I am confident of my my inate fitness so it is just the physical strain of my legs hitting the road that I have to contend with. Saying that; my hardest run was 3.3 when I really was not feeling it at all.

I'm at the same stage as you but I tend not to worry about what's coming next week . The 5 minutes does seem a bit exhausting but I remember when 3 minutes seemed hard now I can do that no problem so I like to think that's what happens as I progress good luck 😊😊

I was exactly the same 20mins seemed too far. I am on week 11 now and doing 35mins. you will get there. Just take things slow. In the early stages its more important not to stop. I always experience one run a week where I tell myself to stop. don't give up and trust this programme. You will get there and surprise yourself.
