So W4R1 has made me stop. Aerobically, all fine. Achilles and calf niggled and built and then in last 2 minutes of final run, uphill, just outright pain, forcing me to stop and limp very slowly home. Think I knew after W3r3 but was so motivated and it had eased during day that I thought I’d be ok. The stop starts killed me. So realistically need a few weeks off and will continue with exercises. Was hoping to be celebrating completion by Christmas but if I can walk pain free my Christmas that will be great . Bye for now .
Time to stop! Limped home. Gutted: So W4R1 has... - Couch to 5K

Oh no PW, what a shame. You definitely did the right thing stopping when you did, and rest will do it good. Hope you’re back running before too long. In the meantime, take care and rest that pesky uncooperative achilles.
It all starts with a good mindset and you’ve got that. Disappointing though it is, rest is crucial - you will get there 🙂
Oh no purplewalker, hope you recover soon, my shins started at the same point as your calf, I’ve had two weeks off and going to start back at the beginning and see how I go.
Rest up and look after that injury
Relax and recover well purplewalker! You’ll be back out in no time. Go slow and enjoy it. Sure, the programme gives us structure and that’s fantastic, but your body does the running bit and if it need a little recoup, no worries. It’s just getting you ready for the next bit and you will do it. Best wishes!! 🤗❤️
Thank you for all the encouragement!
Sorry to hear you are on the IC. Is this since you got the new shoes? I tried saucony but they went up too high at the back for me and would have aggravated the Achilles. If things don’t improve I would recommend seeing a sports physio as they can tell if you’ve overstretched or torn your calf muscle and recommend exercises. Good luck.
Thank you . No it was before the shoes when it first started - shoes good. Apt with physio Tuesday. Am still limping and now hip hurts presumably because I’m not distributing my weight properly. Hey ho.
I am in exactly the same place! Week 4 run 1 to resting. Each day I get up hoping it’s going to be ok to run but it’s not. It is slowly improving though.
Hope it feels better soon. I’ve got Achilles trouble too. It’s no fun is it. Just done W3R3 at a steady pace and stretched before and after. Ok up to now. Take care
You’re doing the right thing... it may not keep you down as long as you think. Run very gently on it when you think it’s ready. Hey well soon.
Sad to hear it. Hope you soon recover and get back to walking/running pain free and enjoyable.
You have realised that this is for life, not a short term quick fix.
I had to stop running this morning because of instability in my knee........it happens to all of us.
Listening to your body is the first key thing, learning to understand what it is saying takes a bit longer, but reaps rewards.
Take care.
This happened to me too on week 1 -run 2. Bought a knee support, really took care of myself by doing as little as possible and rested 4 days and completed run 3 last night. Felt slightly niggly when I got home but all is good this morning. Be kind to yourself, stay positive and rest... you’ll soon be back running again❤️
Hello there,
Thank you for uploading a picture of your injured leg. I am sorry that you have had to rest and give the running a break. How are you managing to walk around or go up and down stairs? Hopefully you are not hindered that badly and are able to get on with your daily routine.
Look after yourself and take care, hoping you recover swiftly and start running again soon.
