W5R3 Finally done!

I was doing well with the programme but at week 5, I caught a virus, which knocked me out for 2 weeks. Then we went on holiday and stayed in a hotel 20 mins from Funchal up a mountain. So steep there that just a little walking made my legs ache! Managed to try out the hotel treadmill to repeat a W5 run. Useful. Didn't like it. Home and caught another virus! Today I was just well enough to get up to the park and do W5R3. Nearly ran on the spot, but finished it! At last! Four weeks to finish W5. Noted that the Park run at this rate'll take me an hour.

I've kept reading the postings and feel as though mentally I've kept running, but physically I haven't, so I feel body and brain are not in sync about where I am in the programme. Muscles are not at week 8, where my brain is. Not as euphoric about finishing this significant run as I'd hoped. Long awaited as it was Hope to stay well and get some straightforward weeks of running to feel properly back on the wagon!

Well done. First run back after a lay-off can play with the mind can’t it? You’ve got it out of your system now though.

Yes, it has messed my head up. Thank you for identifying with me, Arthur. That's what I needed!

Try not to feel too bad about where you are Runaway trainer, you've had quite a rough patch. Regardless of pace you've still managed to get through a longer continuous run & as long as you don't suffer another set back you should start to like your making better progress. 👍

Good run. If parkrun takes an hour, it takes an hour... and you’ll have ALL of the volunteers at the finish line then to really cheer you home... the fast guys only get a handful.

Slow and steady into week six and you got this.
