Something happened...

So I’m buzzing because I finished week 3 tonight and can run now without stopping.

However... when I was outside in a not so lit area of the path, someone full beamed me in their car, after he went past me the beams went back to normal. I don’t know whether he just couldn’t see (bearing in mind I had my flashing reflectors on, my hat had reflective base on it)

Has that happened to anyone before? Should I be concerned or is it just a d*** head trying to dazzle me for the giggles.

I don't think your reflectors etc would have dazzled them

Surely normal beams on a car would have been sufficient to see me... think the bloke was just being a 🛎 end

Was he walking or driving?

He was driving past me...

Don’t worry about it. It’s done. Move on. We have to not let these distractions bother us. we share our running routes with so many folks 🙂 You can go off-road to find more space if you can run in daylight

Well we weren't there so can't know - it could have been an idiot who thought it was funny I suppose, or alternatively, the driver might have been using full beam to see you better, not realising you were being dazzled. Well done on completing week 3 anyway!

It’s never happened to me before, well to solve that I have a high-vis vest that I will now wear going forward

He won’t have seen you quite as well as he would a car coming the opposite way in full beam... he dipped his lights eventually, that means he saw you and your gear did its job.

Good run, enjoy the next

I’ll add a high vis vest for my next run to be extra visibility

Perhaps but personally I would never run in the dark unless I had to, probably the person who full beamed you only did it as it was dark, better keep to where there are bright lights. Well done for completing week 3.

My route is brightly lit and where I was dazzled was literally the only place not lit as well 🤷🏻‍♀️ hopefully once where I live more street lights will be added, it’s a new build estate

Don't let it get to you. He/she may even have hit it by accident or wasn't thinking or distracted. We're very rural and a lot of drivers are bad at driving at night without proper knowledge of when they should or shouldn't use high beams.🙈

It's not you, it's them 👍😉

It’s weird but I love driving at night but I would never even consider putting my full beams on anyone. I’ll just add a high-vis vest next time.

Sounds like a bit of an idiot.... you do get them... I nearly drowned once, when a white van man thought it would be fun to pull into the kerb, as he went past and through a huge, huge puddle..!

It must be jealousy..because you are out there.. and doing great stuff!

You are okay.. and that is all that matters!

With that in mind... I was trying to cross the road, checked before crossing and someone in a van did a dodgy u-turn clearly didn’t see me and we did an awkward me stopping in the road to let him get past. He did apologise though which helps.
