Sorry for the negativity, I’m really worried about my W1R2 tomorrow. The first one I thought I was going to die half way through. I’m concerned if it happens again I’ll give up. I really want to do this.

Maybe give W1R1 another go. And again another day before trying run 2.

Don’t give up! I thought I was gonna die about 30 seconds in to the first interval when I started... and yesterday I ran 5k in under 30 minutes for the first time. I hadn’t exercised for 30 years, and I put my last cigarette out the night before I started. If I can do this, so can you.

Run as slowly as you can... and if you can’t complete, go again. Winners don’t quit... be a winner.

Hi UNM, did you enjoy your walk in the hills you mentioned to me that you were going to do today? I hope you enjoyed it. I ran my third 5k this morning but on a slightly slower time than the first two times, just under 37 minutes, however, I did enjoy it and was not nearly as tired as the first two. To be honest I dislike feeling shattered after running but that did not happen today.

Sound like you got that stamina turned on... I was shot yesterday but ok after slower runs before it.

Had a good look at Jacobs ladder, I can walk up in 30 minutes, so looking at the elevation I’m thinking about 50 running 😂. Scary steep of course, so I’m thinking I need to be around 7-8k to have the extra lungs on me. So I’m thinking it’s a December run, maybe January.

Firstly..well done for starting this...

Now..have you checked out the FAQ for Newbies..there are so many useful bits if advice there...

The mantra is slow and steady ...simple as that...and if you struggle..go slower.

Many, many folk felt like you...many ran near hospitals or GP surgeries...just in case of collapse...honestly!

You won't give up...we won't let you...relax...take it gently and you will do this...😉

Don't give up. Slow your pace and relax your shoulders. Those first few runs can be hard, but stick with it and you'll be glad you did. Also resist re-running previous runs as the programme was developed with a structured pattern that really works.

This time last year I was just starting out, getting home all red in the face and legs like jelly. Now I run at least 3x5km a week and have done a park run in 22 minutes!

Shelley2310 ...welcome to the forum...on here you will get loads of encouragement, support, advice & inspiration...you will also hear that you are not the only one who has felt like this...most of us have had doubts whether it’s on weak 1 or week 6...notice the difference in spelling??? Weak 1 is a killer, I call it this because this is when we realise how weak we are..both physically & mentally...when I did weak 1 I thought everyone could see my lungs trying to escape my chest, honestly....& I was the same on Weak 2 & poss weak 3...but weak changed to week by week 4 because my mind had changed, I could run...I was running & I was enjoying it...the hard work was starting to pay off...and you too will be like this I’m sure...you have done the hardest run...the first time you step out of the door is the hardest & every run after will get easier...and before you know it you will inspire someone to get off the couch too!!! Keep at it, don’t over think it...keep it slow & steady, it’s not a race, find a comfortable pace & stick to it. If you don’t quite complete a run bag the stamina & Kms & try again...it doesn’t have to take 9 weeks, you can take as long as you want. I’m looking forward to reading about your journey now so you have to carry on!!! Enjoy it...it’s worth it in the end I promise

You obviously lack confidence in your own physical abilities........like a huge swathe of C25k runners......but you have started and you are in control, so don't worry about, just go out and do your best. If you don't complete it, have a rest day and try again........that in itself is progress and not in any way a failure.

Once you get into the swing of this, your confidence and your abilities will grow, in a surprisingly short time. The programme is brilliantly structured and proven to work for just about anybody. this forum is here to offer support and advice, because we have all been there......we all started with Week 1, not sure quite how we were going to cope.

A positive frame of mind is essential..........what is the worst that can happen?

You can do this ........we all know that........now you have to believe too.

Relax and enjoy it.......slowly.

I gave up 2 runs before the end the first time I went out.

So started again the next time and I ran every other 60 sec run and walked the others and just increased it I did week 1 four times the last time I ran the full amount and then yesterday I ran week 2 run 1 and did it. You will be amazed how far you come in a short space of time.

Don’t push yourself just don’t run if you need an extra time to recover. I’m asthmatic so my breathing is what I’m battling with.

Like so many have said on here it’s not a race. Well do for starting just keep going.

This time last week I was in your shoes and I took advice from this forum and really, really slowed down and it made a huge difference, it felt so much better than R1. I felt a great sense of achievement and looked forward to R3, again reminding myself to take it slow and steady. Tomorrow I'm doing W2R2 and I'm actually not dreading it at all. Keep it slow, make that your mantra. Good luck.

I think most people think exactly the same so I hope it helps to hear that you're not alone! The best thing you can do is try. You will be amazed at how this programme prepares you for the next stage. Every week gets tougher but every week so do you. If you absolutely can't do it then fine, do the last one again and take a bit longer to get through it. Many people have done that too. One of the best feelings you can have is when you change that voice in your head that says, "I can't do this!" and instead you say, "I can do this!". All the best.

Hi Shelley 2310, I’ve been there breathing so hard and thinking I was going to die. I was going to give up but thanks to the support and advice of the lovely people on this forum I didn’t and I’m glad I didn’t. I’m currently on week 7 run 3 tomorrow and I really never thought I’d get this far.

Keep going, you will do it and keep posting, the advice here is great. You can do it!
