Brilliant decision to do this. Only aim to get through each run, nice and steady, please don't worry about anything else like pace, or distance. The programme is about getting to 30 minutes in 9 weeks, that is all. Good luck and enjoy it :)

Good luck with this Freya2211 (I always do as I am told!). I am sure that you will feel the benefits of the C25K adventure, just getting yourself out there & trying for the first time is a huge achievement & one to be proud of. Then every time you progress you will feel that euphoric rush. Just take it steady & do it at your own pace listening to your body as you go. You are bound to have a few aches, so don't worry about those, but if something starts to hurt, then something is wrong. Part of doing this at your own pace is not setting yourself hard targets for where you will be and when. Everytime you get off the couch and get yourself put there is a success but if you find you're unable to complete a run, don't be too disheartened, just re-christen it as a practice because you will have learned from that one to help you decide what to change for the next time (this is where I repeat the slowing down advice). The only thing you are competing against is yourself no-one or nothing else. Also remember to let us know on here how you're getting on, you will get nothing but excellent advice and full support. I look forward to reading your next post.

Longish post alert! Hi Freya, welcome to C25K and this forum! Don’t worry about how you’ll be - It will be what it is! Now, deep breath and get yourself out there - you really will be fine, trust me! Each run prepares you for the next one. Take it slow, slow and then slow down. If you’re worried about speed check out the YouTube clip called Japanese Slow Running - it’s great! Stay hydrated every day and make sure you take your rest days - if you want to take more than one, do it (I usually have 2 between runs). Don’t be tempted to look too far ahead on the programme - it looks daunting and will make you worry even more. Importantly, keep posting so we know how you’re doing and if you have a question just ask - there’s no such thing as a silly question and we’ve all been there! And finally, don’t forget to enjoy yourself! Happy running!

Good luck. You've made a great decision. 👍

Take it slow and steady, no pressure - it's not a race. Post here for encouragement and let us know how you get on.

Good luck, you can do it 😊👍

I echo the thoughts of other replies - you have made a great decision. I started Couch25k over four years ago now (I was nearing 50 and really thought it was time to start looking after myself!) However, as someone who has also struggled with anxiety, the impact it has had on my mental wellbeing has been huge.

Read IannodaTruffe reply and follow the link for lots of good advice and remember that we are all here as your virtual cheerleaders! Good luck.🙂
