I am way ahead of myself, about to embark on Wk6 in the morning, I can see the end and its a marvelous sight, but, how am I going to manage without Laura, how hard is the transition, does motivation go, and why am I worrying this early on !
Bit prematurely worried: I am way ahead of... - Couch to 5K
Bit prematurely worried
You're right - the end is blooming marvellous & you'll feel amazing. But it is sad & scary too - to come to the end of the programme. You could try the post C25k podcasts that you can download & be reunited with Laura I signed myself up for a local charity 5k run to keep myself motivated once I finished. (One of the best things I did!)
Whatever you do - enjoy it - sounds like you're hooked on running already so I'm sure it won't be a problem for you. Good luck with W6 x
I think there are other podcasts after Laura, that may even feature....... Laura!
But I think she speaks less as you run more so I'm guessing we'll get used to it. You could always get your Thrash Metal out GrannyJudes (please tell me you like such things - that would be so cool!)
I'm not aware of Laura speaking that much less with the post-graduation podcasts. If anything, I had enough of her constant chatter (and running to a beat which she counted out periodically) and prefer Sam Murphy. Cheers.
Oh, I haven't heard the post ones at all, I was referring to when the block runs start, like 20, 25 mins etc because the intervals are smaller
On the later weeks when the runs get longer, Laura still talks and gives encouragement - along with time checks at regular intervals. Once you get to the last run of week 6 there are no intervals at all on any of the runs - just the 5 minute warm up/down at either end of the runs. Laura is still there with you all the way though. Cheers.
Don't worry! I've moved away from Laura and now have my own playlist and I use MapMyRun to keep myself reminded of time/distance. I could also see myself going back if I needed a bit of motivation...
There is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping WK9 and Laura with you post-graduation either....
I suspect you'll find the motivation comes from you post-graduation.. you'll want to keep on running and you've already got your set days and routes laid out so you'll be fine... Parkruns, 5K fun runs and all sorts of other options open up too... you'll be hooked!
Good luck with Week 6, it's a tricky week but it's a massive transition in terms of your running! Have fun!
The C25k+ podcasts with Laura are a must!!!! There are three of them and they will keep you busy into infinity. I use them all the time. I feel reasurred when I'm with Laura, my safety net. LOL
I have some good old rock tunes on my mp3 player for when I feel good, which is not often at the moment. I like Black Betty by Ram Jam. Whole Lotta Rosie is fab too.
I so agree! Occasionally I try other running music but always head on back to my friend Laura and the three C25k+ podcasts. I find if I alternate those on my three runs of the week it's the total package.
I felt quite lost in the first week after I graduated so downloaded a b210k app. I do find the apps annoying tho as they tend to crash. I also find i like and rely on Laura at times on the cs5k+ podcasts. I have booked in for a10k race to keep me motivated.
I am of the belief that if you want to run you will and you will find a way that works for you and it's a good idea to try different things to see what works for you.
Week 6 is tough! It was my toughest week! lnterval running is much harder for me I think but it is an essential part of the plan.
Well done on getting to week 6 and it's good you are looking ahead to when you will graduate.
You probably are worrying a bit prematurely at this stage. You have four more weeks with Laura on the C25K and then you can, as already said by others, use the C25k+ podcasts also by Laura. There are a couple of B210K as well that you could use. As for motivation, you have your Race for Life soon after graduation so that's something to aim for. Good luck and best wishes.
Oh Grannyjudes, don't worry about it. I'm on w9 and haven't given a thought to what I'm going to do next, either with or without Laura. I have my 5k race booked in for November and I'm going to try do something to improve my core strength and my dodgy knees but I'll probably spend a few weeks doing w9 over and over again to build up my stamina. The thing is, I know what I can do after 9weeks and now I just want to do it better. Good luck x
I was exactly same Jude I kinda drew up a plan for a few weeks using c25k+ I felt I needed the structure and I liked ticking off each runs -- very high tech !!! Also planned a park run and expected to run 3k approx ( cos that's as far as I was getting by end of c25k ) and walk run but on day just kept running all be it slow !
