I graduated at the end of August and have run 2-3 times a week and built up to 6k. Due to work and life I have not been out for a week. . . . Will I still run for at least 30mins?

Do you need to..straight away? Just start slow and steady..run for pleasure...then build up to where you want to be🙂

I don't have to I am worried I can't. . . . . Silly I know but just an irrational fear that I will not be able to do any.

Sounds like them pesky gremlins are at work :-( A week isn't long, you may find the extra rest days mean you do far better than you expect. You won't know until you try, enjoy the running :-)

Of course you can, after just a week off. It's the gremlins talking. And who cares if it's 20 or 25 mins? Just run, slow and steady as Laura told us. 🏃🏃

1 week won't hurt much, 2 weeks without and you will certainly know.

Hi I was in the same boat and made myself go out for a run yesterday morning. Even if you don't manage 30 mins, you know in your heart of hearts that it won't take you long to get there again. Why not just head out - set yourself a target of moving for 30 minutes, whether you walk or run. I think the biggest hurdle after a gap is to get those runners on and get moving. The achievement will be getting running again, not how long you continuously managed to run for. Once I started, my worry about lost fitness receded and I remembered why I did it in the first place. Good luck!!

The first 5 minutes will likely be rough, but that's your head and inner gremlins. Just make sure you get through that and the rest is a bonus. Run for as long as you are enjoying it!

I graduated in September and ran regularly until I had a sore throat and had to take a week off. I was really scared that I would not be able to run for 30 minutes - the chorus of gremlins was out in force - telling me I couldn't do it. But I did and it didn't seem more difficult than usual. I'm sure it's just gremlins and you will be able to pick up where you left off. Hope this helps.
