Feeling a bit disheartened 😟

On my 3rd attempt at this. This morning was W3R2. I did it ok. Didn't collapse in a crumpled or anything but just feel a bit deflated for some reason. My weights been steadily creeping up over the last few months and I'm really unhappy with myself. Had body image issues all my life and right now am not in a good place. I'm wondering if I will ever get to the end of this C25K I'd like to keep running but often wish I could be faster and stronger.

Having a bad day...getting it off my chest ☹

Aww Norah, please don’t be disheartened. You’re doing an amazing thing for your body doing C25K. I don’t think it’s ever been known for its weight loss properties, so don’t beat yourself up about that.

What you’ll find is your body tone will improve dramatically and you’ll lose inches. All good. 👍

So chin up, take the programme slow and steady and enjoy the journey. Think of all the people lolling on the couch. Not you! ❤️🏃‍♀️👍💪

Hi Norah sorry to hear you’re feeling so deflated 😔

The more you do the faster / better you will become! So chin up, you can do this! We can see how determined you are as you keep coming back for more!! I’ve read a lot on the forums and although I only started yesterday I’ve seen a lot of people say that they have or have had bad runs. Please keep reaching out if you’re feeling low x

You WILL get faster and stronger! Look at how much stronger you are already. In week 1 did you think you'd be able to run for 3 minutes without crumpling into a heap? I know I didn't!

I think the 2nd run of every week is the hardest. The 1st run you're elated to get through it, so the 2nd run is a bit of an anti climax.

It's just those gremlins getting to you, but you know you can do this, and you'll soon be reaping the rewards!

Don't get ahead of yourself, take each week and each run on its merits, When I started 29/7 I literally couldn't run for a minute, I didn't make the end of those first runs. Last week I completed 5k in under 30 minutes. Ive also lost over a stone, just by following the plan, I still eat rubbish. I still drink alcohol but I feel so much better. running for 30 mins and eventually 5k seems so difficult and so far away but now I'm doing it on my lunchbreak. I lost my way a bit during one of the weeks but found on here great encouragement.

Norah your doing fab!!. Slow & steady lS the way to go. You will get stronger as you progress. Speed or going faster, particularly in the early stages, may end in injury. Anything between a🐌or🐢will help build your stamina. & make your goals more achievable. Be kind to yourself 👍🏻

Ahh Norah, we all have bad days, to be honest many of us are probably in exactly the same boat. You have achieved a lot already and there are more trials and highs along the way. You are not alone. This running lark is an emotional journey, expect there to be good days and bad days. I've had weeps and temper tantrums after runs. 30-40 mins is a lot of time to spend in your own head. The thing is that it's a process, you can't rush it, it does take time, and slowly you will begin to see differences in your body, or notice that actually it wasn't so long to get your breath back today...or yay I didn't throw up today (which I did most violently after my first run). There is an exercise I do called 100 days of happy. I think I'm on my 5th round of it. Just find one thing a day that makes you happy and document it/take a photo, write it down - whatever... it just has to be a different thing each day. like snow drops when they first come out or meeting a friend for coffee. Any way I've been applying the same system to each of my runs. I just need to find one thing about the run that was good, even if it's not me, it might just be seeing a particularly cute puppy. I find that doing this helps me remain positive about the next run - even when I have the fear.

I’ve used something similar, 3 good things, but not applied it to my runs. I’m going to start doing that 😊

Brilliant idea jiggles7- thank you, I’m going to apply that to my runs. I had a really tired, slow run tonight which felt such a struggle, but the sunset was glorious. 😃

Nothing beats a good sunrise or sunset! And you wouldn’t have seen it sitting on the couch! Well done getting out on your tired run 😀😀
