W6R1 - Sinking in

Miserable day, but really really enjoyed this run, probably my favorite so far for some reason.

Took the same route as Friday, but the intervals gave a good mix of flat, down and uphill sections and was able to bring a bit of pace back into it.

strava.com/activities/19059...

Friday seemed so long ago, and always a bit cautious of the first run, but once I set off I had soon forgotten about it. Felt the cold today too, especially at the start, and the cold air was difficult to breath with at first. Legs were also a bit stiff for the first half a mile, probably an effect of still walking a 5 mile walk on both Saturday & Sunday.

My girlfriend had taken our 🐶out to the park at the same time, and seeing him run around at the same time, might have helped. Even managed to shout his name as he ran past me, but chasing another spaniel I was completely blanked as expected! 🤣 Passed them on the way back on the last 5 min stretch and managed a quick whistle to let them know I was coming through.

It dawned on me too today that I was at week 6!! 😳 Week bloody six!!! The same week I bombed out last time but I was feeling so good on this run. Still a few weeks to go I know but it feels to have gone so quickly.

Also realized that W6R2 will be my last run with an interval (I think). I will miss them a bit, I wont lie.. I often now feel like I could run a bit longer before as they occur, but I do enjoy the runs more when I don't feel like I'm constantly having to slow down or feeling pretty knackered. 😶 No tight chest sensation either today, so the longer running periods definitely seem to bring that on

Was expecting I would finish at the same point as Friday, but the intervals gave me a bit more distance heading up the final hill on my route, and managed it pretty well, and still kept a bit of pace in there from the tank.

I'll be keeping this route now. For the 5k I'll head down the main road and make a turning point, one for the 25 minute runs and one for the 30 mins, it's a gradual downhill before the turn (and up coming back) so hopefully should be able to judge that pretty well.

Anyway happy for now, and bring on Wednesday I have a 👿 to battle there...

Great run... very impressive pace for hilly intervals too. You’re right the next is the last interval on the programme, but don’t worry, post grad you will be doing interval sessions every now and then still.

Go slay the 😈

Many thanks, yeah I think the pace is a bit off actually, looks like the gps conked out when I started walking the first interval and skipped a little bit of the route, so probably a little slower than it came out at on strava, but hopefully not by too much. 😳

Even allowing for that it’s good... no matter yet... but I think you’ll be very happy with the results by the end of the plan.
