Welcome.

Calm and breathe! Ok, look at week 9... that’s 30!! You’ll be ready for that as well.

Funny you should mention pace and breathing there... if you’re very out of breath you’re running too fast! Keep the pace so that you can talk full sentences and you’ll be fine. The runs may be 3 minutes, but there’s not many of them. Trust the plan, believe in yourself and relax before you go out there... you can do it.

Definately, you have to be able to talk. I talk to myself (nuts!) but if you can talk your breathing! I also practice breathing (after 55yrs you would think I knew how) however breathing deeply in and out helps it flood your muscles with oxygen and helps you RUN! it takes a bit of time and you will have days when you think it's never too g to happen but it will. every run, no matter how bad, is a good run.

Week 3 you run for exactly the same length of time as you did in W2.

You will be fine.

Just take it easy. That is the only way I can do it and I do talk to Laura and thank her when she encourages me. hehe

I did W3R1 today and it was ok. I made a conscious effort to be slow and relaxed. The slightly longer run actually helped me get into a rhythm. Good luck!

It’s a big jump, and it is a challenge but you are equipped for it honest. This whole process is going to challenge you and you will get “the fear” as you approach each new week. All you can do is your best. If you find you can do the first 90 seconds then you are half way through, your coach will chime in and start talking and you just keep going one foot in front of the other and swear *optional. But you endure and once you have done it once you can do it again. Give it a go, the worst that can happen is that you repeat the run and conquer it the next time. Go for it! You will smash it!

There is a lot written about running and breathing, and I tried to follow some of it in the longer runs. It confused me (easily confused!) took me out of rhythm, and made me panic when I couldn’t match my breathing to the right number of steps!

I no longer care about the breathing, other than to slow down a little if I need to catch my breath. What I have found really helpful is to include my lungs in the warm up. So before I set out I take several huge breaths, really fill the lungs, hold the breath, then push it all out, then do it again, several times during the five minute warm up. This seems to ‘prime’ the lungs for me, ready to work hard.

There is almost certainly no scientific evidence for this to work, it’s probably just another bit of ritual that has attached itself to my running!

You will conquer week 3 and all the other weeks, I’m sure.

I thought exactly the same but I did it and it wasn't too difficult as I changed my mindset of it's only 60seconds more. Controlled breathing helped the pace and a different focus. Good luck you will do it!

As UnFitNoMore says - trust the programme! It knows what you can do better than you do. You're in safe hands. Take it steady (I swear I'm running slower than I can walk, sometimes) and get into your own groove. Oh, and enjoy it! Best wishes x

I did my first run for W3 on Friday and have to say it wasn’t as daunting as I first thought, I was like you thinking I’ll never manage 3 mins - twice!! But tbh I just put my music on and went with it and felt pretty good once it was down. Keep going you doing fab! 😊

I no longer look at what the next run is, so got a surprise today when I had to run for 8minutes, twice! I get the same feeling as you evey week, so if you completed the run, congratulate yourself and move on

I did W3 R1 tonight and also thought I’ll never make 3 minutes - and I did do it. I felt good! Give it a shot and try not to think to deeply into it, just go into it with an open mind.

Good luck for week 3 :-)
