Week 1 First Run

I started yesterday. I never thought that I would make the first minute run yet alone complete the whole thing. Really felt great to complete it.

My only issue was I didn't have any music and it made each session seem really long, so I need to find out what is good to listen to while doing it.

Looking forward to next one tomorrow.

Thanks for that. Encouragement from others is really good. Yeah I'm going to suss out a good play list for my next one.

Hope your next one goes well too.

Great job. That first 60 seconds is so hard, I had no idea how fast to go. Hopefully you’ve found your comfortable/conversational pace... that’s the pace to to this plan at.

For now I’d recommend playing your favourite music, but nothing too fast.

Welcome to the plan and have a good run tomorrow.

Thanks for that advice. I think because I do it on my own, I maybe go a little fast, but I made it.

I'm 52 and used to do AAA when I was at school. Forgot how long ago that was though LOL

I’m not far behind you... and same here... what did we do to ourselves?? Just stopped being bulletproof I guess.

I had the same issue with music but the gym I go to runs a lot of Les Mills classes and the music is usually pretty good to exercise to do I downloaded a Les Mills playlists someone had put together and it’s working pretty well so far. I also looked at a few running playlists which weren’t really my thing but still worth checking out depending on what you’re into.

I did my week 9 run one on Monday and will do the second tonight. I covered just under the 5k so I think my pace is correct (according to my Apple watch at least). But to be honest just to be able to run non-stop for 30 minutes is sufficient for me at this stage.

I've always had music on my runs and find that really helps me keep going.

Well done. My last run in the series should be 30th November. Going with how I'm feeling after the first couple, I really want to keep going.

Music is a must in my book. I really struggled on the first day without it.

Well done to you and I hope you have an excellent run this evening. Not long to reach the ultimate goal.

If it is any help you could look at Podrunner - just Google it. I use the fixed tempo mixes to discipline fitness walking at a steady pace. Like yourself I am just starting out with C25K and using the mixes devised for this which can be found on the same site. Week 1 mix, I found the walking section to be around 3.8 - 4mph and jogging 4.8 to 5mph on a treadmill - too self conscious to plod outside! The music may not be to everyone's taste and I fall well outside the demographic for which it was compiled but the beat does really help me to set pace and distract from jog section discomfort! With regards more to walking, some tracks can be so uplifting I walk with a swagger or strut that makes it effortless. Still waiting for this with jogging!

Not what you're looking for?
