Hey all I don't usually post about 1st run but this I'm proud off. I had 25 mins to run so I didn't take app or music. Just strava and my watch. I done 5.6k in 32 mins. Please tell me this is good. I have my new routes set out for my 5k, 10k and dare I say half marathon. So I started with the 1st one. I felt great for 1st 17mins then slowed from there till about 24 then I pushed on. Does this make me runner lol

Well done.... yeah, it’s pretty good! Don’t overdo it, you’ve done that today, proven to yourself what you need to, we don’t want to see you injure yourself now mate.

Of course you’re a runner and that podium is drawing nearer.

That time is very good for 5.6k distance Johnny, keep going and your dream of running a half marathon will certainly come true.

as my weeks have got closer to finish I've been trying to gage different markers to run to and back again from the house. So now I've all 3 noted for when the arise. My only focus is to complete the 5k properly in the given weeks then I'll think about 10k and so on but in my head I know what the overall goal is.

With my mentor's hat on I will say no, that is not good!

It was a 25minute run, so why did you run for 32 minutes?

Of course I know the answer and totally understand your enthusiasm but please don't go pushing further and faster. You are a new runner and it is oh so easy to do more than is wise only to end up not running at all because of injury.

You fit the demographic of young men who have repeatedly on this forum, done too much too soon.

This might help healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and please read the links to the stories of two but young men who overdid it.

Of course you are a runner...........but the newbie runner's most common mistake is to believe that running hard and fast will make you a better runner.

Take care.

To be honest it wasn't planned. I had just put my head down as to speak and just kept plodding along. Then Whe. I looked at watch I was so close to the 5k. So I made a marker to finish it. Then when I got there I did feel OK so I jogged back up to top of street. Tbh I would have been delighted with the 25mins. On other note I seem to be able to pace myself better without music
